Vehicle Detail

This is an original 1971 Dodge Demon 340 car that is now a project car or restoration project. Mopar drag racer, original mopar muscle car. Mopar Collector Car. It originally came from the factory with a 340 4 barrel engine and a Manual Three (3) speed transmission on the column ( three on the tree) It still has it's rallye dash and the odometer reads 29,164.oo miles, But I would assume it really is 129.164.oo as these cars could not count that high back in the day :) THE DASH DOES NOT HAVE THE TACHOMETER like some of these cars came with. ( they are available here on ebay from time to time. I DO HAVE AN EXTRA FACTORY TACH THAT I OFFER TO THE BUYER FOR 150.oo, Dollars, BUT IT IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE CAR.. The dash where the radio goes has been modified for a newer stereo. I believe that a new factory radio would hide how the bezel was cut. As it looks like it was well done.. The metal part of the dash is as good as it gets for a car this old and is not cut on or modified in any way. Not rust thru, etc here. Just faded factory finish. ( Dull) The vin tag is present with the factory rivets so I know no funny business has transpired... I see no inner fender tag at all. The floor has been drilled to mount a floor mounted automatic shifter at sometime and it is not present in the car. The 340 motor is long gone and so is the Manual three speed transmission. This is one of only a handful of 340 Demons that came with the Manual " Three On the Tree!", As Most where automatics and 4 speeds. There is no brake master cylinder there. Just the brake lines... THERE IS A 3 speed wiper motor that goes with the car, BUT it has a two speed wiper motor on the car. I would assume it is good and was his intention to change it to the three speed wiper! It does have the three speed harness there too. The steering column still has the manual shifter stuff, But some pieces are missing removed and I do not have them ( they took the shifter handle off the column and the clutch bellcrank is not present ( Z shaft) The factory plate for the clutch pivot is still present on the inside driver fenderwell that holds the clutch crank opposite of the bellhousing.... The car has a manual steering box in it and is still hooked up tot the steering column. I have one key only for it and it is for the ignition switch on the column, I have no other keys for this car, I open the trunk using a long screwdriver I have and INCLUDED in the sale a MANUAL FLOOR Shift STEERING Column THAT GOES WITH IT that was removed from another 1971 demon 340 car. The Manual floor shift column is black in color. The original three speed manual on the column is still in the car too an it is light Blue. It currently has a 440 engine from a 1977 dodge motor home in it that had the car style oil pan on it already. I helped pull the motor and can attest that this pan was a oil pan put on the motor home by dodge when new and it has never been changed, Never pulled off the motor. It made it easy to set this motor and trans into this car body for safe storage. THE motor only has 37,896.oo miles on it and came from a motor home that had a tree fall on it's rear during a storm and had mostly sat anyway. I bought the motor and already had the good transmission at home. I HAVE< BUT WILL SELL SEPERATELY A CORRECT 4 SPEED FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE FOR A CAST CRANK 440 CAR ( not the truck one !!!) I will give the buyer the first chance at it, Since this is an original manual transmission car,, Say 100.00 bucks for the flywheel and pressure plate if your interested.. It will work on this 440 Cast Crank Only and not have any issues with improper balance. BUT IS NOT INCLUDED WITH THE SALE OF THIS CAR. IT WOULD BE AN EXTRA. IT also is included with the proper length driveshaft to hook the trans to the differential. the distributor is the factory mopar electronic ignition one. Engine wiring harness is present in a bag. The car does not have a starter.( I forgot to get it when I pulled the motor with the guy), But I do have a core that I will give up with the car.. It does have the original thermoquad ( stored in a bag) The transmission is a 1968 automatic 727 torqueflite that is in good strong operating condition. No need to rebuild unless you want to make it stronger... It was mated to the cast crank 440 engine using a 1973 original 340 cast crank externally balanced converter for a higher stall speed and make driving more fun! The motor and transmission are only bolted up at the transmission cross member only and sitting down on the K frame up front.. The previous owner has converted the rear end to the larger bolt pattern 5 on 4 1/2 to get rid of the small troublesome 5 on 4" wheels and he used the 8 1/4 rear from the same 1973 duster 340 donor car. I think it is not a posi/ limited slip, But have not jacked up the car to check it ( assume it is not and if it is, THEN BONUS for you) The front K frame and front brakes are also swapped to this car from the same 1973 duster 340 donor car. They are the factory 1973 disc brakes up front, Drum rear. ( I WILL INCLUDE THE ORIGINAL 340 K FRAME with the sale ))) It is also in great shape, Really don't know why they ever changed it... The wheels are 16x7 cragar 16" wheels !!! they have low profile speed rated tires on them that have about 1/2 tread left. The tires are size P205-55-16 directional NEXEN 5000 High Speed Rated , They have no dry rot or cracking and look to be in good shape. The cragars also polish up very nice and only need a washing to be sharp again. The car has lots of different colors painted on it where shop hands apparently used itto hold something up while they painted ort worked! It actually looks better in person than the pictures show. I see primer, red, brown, purple, blue and black in different places, Not sure why,, I can only guess what this shop was doing or planning on doing to it... The subframes are solid and rot free. The firewall and cowl and inner fender wells are rot free. the rear tire wells are rot free. The entire car screams to be restored instead of being turned into a race car, But you can decide which route to take. I currently own 5 dodge demon 340 cars and just want to restore my original U code 70 cuda 440 instead of restoring this one. The car has the spool type motor mount K frame from the 1973 duster, BUT the Original 1971 340 K frame is present AND INCLUDED with the purchase for those that want to restore it back to the 340 again it deserves to have. I do have a set of the big block Direct Connection spool type motor mounts that are ALSO INCLUDED, But have not been hooked up yet ( My job keeps me out of state and far away most of the time and my son does not want to mess with doing it. These are the bases and the mounts together for the " do It yourselfer " I have a set of the HOOKER "A" BODY, BIG BLOCK FENDERWELL HEADERS for this car that have only been bolted up to my race car and never driven on that I was going to use for exhaust on this car. THE are the black painted ones from Hooker, NOT THE CERAMIC ones, THEY ARE THE LARGE 2" tube going to a 3 1/2" collector. Hooker...( These have the welded collector ( Not the slip each tube together like my hemi has!) THE ARE JUST LIKE NEW... THE INNER Fenders of this car would still need to be cut to use these headers and I wanted to offer it without doing it first. If it does not sell here I will cut them out and use them to get the car going under it's own power. The rear end I was told has 3.55 gears. The body is basically rust free but the previous owner was going to put a fuel cell in it and had the spare tire well cut out top facilitate this install and he never finished it. The car has all of it's glass present EXCEPT the front windshield. It does have the windshield gasket though.. All the marker lights and tail lights are present inside of the car but had been removed by his body shop before I got the car. Headlights are in a box. It was left at the body shop for a very long time and has sanding dust and grit all over the inside of it and outside. He never could finish the car and since I collect Dodge Demon 340's I was able to trade for it some stuff I did not need. Now I can not finish this due to my working 300+ miles away from home and no end in sight. I don't want to see this sit outdoors much longer. IT has two hoods that go with it. One is a fiberglass hood cut out for a 8-71 supercharger that is a pin on style., Still in good strong shape But again it is for a thru the hood supercharger set up. ALSO INCLUDED is a steel original 1972 dodge demon 340 scooped hood with the added hole for the factory/dealer installed hood tach. THIS IS THE DEMON HOOD WITH THE SINGLE HOOD SCOOP THAT IS SIMULAIR TO THE CHALLENGER T/A THAT HAS THE TWO OPENINGS. IT IS THE HOOD ONLY, no hood scoop included. THIS HOOD IS THE CORRECT HOOD WITH THE CORRECT UNDERHOOD BRACING AND OPENINGS FOR THE SCOOP FROM THE FACTORY. many folks make their own out of a normal flat hood and don't realize it is not correct to be judged at a show, JUST FYI !!!! IT does have the hole for the Hood Tachometer also... This car had the two hood scoops hood originally, But the guy was not willing to give it to me when I got the car. BUT I DID SEE HE HAD IT :( The body has small dents and dings, But the only hole I seen was down very low on the drivers side lower quarter that needs addressed. The passenger side floor board has been cut out and a newer AMD panel is just sitting in there ready to be welded in. It has not been done by the body shop when I picked it up from them. It still needs to be done. There are small dents at the tail light panel that need to be popped out, But no rot. The roof and the doors are all solid. The shocks for the rear are just sitting in the back seat. There is a wiring harness in it that needs some repairs to be used ( common). I have several other sections of wiring harnesses for this car also. The car does not have a heater box or controls for the heater have been removed from the dash bezel. The dash pad is cracked and needs to be restored. headliner is there and complete, But needs to be restored. Included is another dash pad that is also cracked and can be used also as a core. Interior Door panels are missing. But the back panels are present ( also blue) An original 1971 dodge demon AM radio complete is included in a bag.. In a box inside is a Mallory rev limiting tachometer with the shift light . 3 1/2" diameter???? In the same box is a MSD 6Al ignition box also and wiring.. I WOULD ASSUME IT ALL STILL WORKS, BUT IT GOES WITH IT TOO. IT HAS AN ORIGINAL DEMON 340 radiator that goes with it, But I don't think it would work with the big block 440 sitting in there! but it goes with it. An Extra steering wheel that is black in color is included ( car still has a blue steering wheel from when it was new on it ) The seat in it is a bench seat, But it also has one passenger side bucket seat that is included from an original 1972 demon 340 ( color black, with it's seat track still there too, It needs recovered also) It has a black back seat. Black Front seat The doors and trunk lid open and close smoothly. I FOUND THE FRONT BUMPER AND BRACKETS THAT BOLT IT TO THE FRAME TODAY AND WILL INCLUDE IT NOW, The front valance is present and usable. Rear Bumper looks like it can be saved and definitely can be used as a core, But it has overspray on it and would need to be polished or even rechromed. The front grill is only good enough for a driver and there is also another grill from a 1971 demon sitting on the hood. ALSO included is a Weiand 440 tunnel ram intake manifold and two holley 750 vac sec carbs. The lower half of the tunnel ram is polished. I did not get any carb linkage to hook them up with the car. ALSO INCLUDED is a NARROWED DANA 60 rear end that he was going to install in the rear. IT IS 34 3/4" WIDE HOUSING END TO HOUSING END. and made to put 15" to 16" WIDE wheels and big tires under it with only like 3 1/2" of backspacing. It can accept a set of wheels with up to 7 1/2" back spacing too IT HAS THE CAPS INCLUDED AND ALL Screw In DRIVE STUDS. ( BUT NO brake Calipers INCLUDED) I did find a set today that may be for the rear disc, But am not sure But they will go with the car also... I DID FIND THE REAR BRAKE ROTORS TODAY AND WILL INCLUDE THEM IT has a chrome cover and is braced and for a 4 link suspension. It has Moser Axles and is 35 spline. It IS DISSAASEMBLED IN SEPERATE COMPONENTS.. Today I found new in the box a Richmond Dana 60 rear gear set that is the 4.56 ratio. I WILL INCLUDE THIS. The rear end has all the brackets for mounting it to the 4 link ends, It has mounts for wheelie bars also and adjustable height shock mounts. I DO NOT HAVE THE ROD ENDS OR BARS for the 4 link, BUT THAT ARE COMMONLY AVAILABLE. I do not have the wheelie bars!!! It has a set of coil over shocks included also that I cant tell what brand they are.( Aldon ???) THEY LOOK to be in great shape to me! ALSO included with the car is a NEW Chris Alston CHASSIWORKS Aluminum wheel tubs fit to help with the rear end install. I do not have any roll cage stuff to go with it.( never received it when I got the car, and I forgot to ask about it) The kit is opened but still in it's original box part number .SKU6608 28"x43" aluminum. it has two K&N velocity stacks with K&N filters that appear to be new. The carbs need kits to make them run right as I have no idea how long they have sat. I do not have a title for this car as it came from a state that does not issue titles for a car this old. ( Georgia) BUT I WILL GIVE A PROPER WRITTEN BILL OF SALE and can promise it is not a stolen vehicle. These 340 Demons are very collectable and hard to find. I think it was originally a white body with black stripes and blue bucket seat interior when it was new, As most of the car is still white inside all the interior that's exposed. inside of door, trunk jamb, doors and under the hood are all original white paint. The fender tags are reproduced by companies like AJ BACKEAST, and others. YOU can build it like you want. I have not found the inner fender tag yet. There are varioius bags of bolts and fastner stuff that is tagged and bagged and some not tagged at all that all goes with the car. It has overspray and various colors of paint on it because of being in the body shop not being worked on. IT IS NOT RUST OR ROT YOU SEE, BUT PAINTS THAT HAVE BEEN SPRAYED AGAINST IT over the white paint. I feel it could easily be restored or if you want finish it as a race car. Your Choice. I HAVE TRIED TO BE EXTREMELY ACCURATE ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THIS PROJECT CAR. IT MAY BE MISSING SOMETHING THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO PROVIDE.
