SINGLE ADULT OWNER SINCE AUGUST 1979 (ME). DURING THAT ENTIRE PERIOD THE CAR WAS KEPT IN A DRY LOCKED GARAGE. THIS IS THE HIGHLY PRIZED FIXED HEAD COUPE 2 SEATER AND NOT THE 2&2. THE CAR IS A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES ON IT, WAS DRIVABLE, BUT NEEDED SOME ATTENTION. SINCE I INTENDED TO USE THE CAR AS A DRIVER, THAT DID NOT POSE A PROBLEM. I WAS NOT HAPPY AFTER I TUNED UP THE ENGINE AND HAD IT AND THE HEAD COMPLETELY REBUILT. SEE DETAILS BELOW. IF YOU HAVE BEEN WATCHING THE SELLING PRICES OF THESE CARS RAPIDLY APPRECIATING (SEE RECENT AUCTIONS) YOU WILL REALIZE THAT THIS CAR IS A GREAT VALUE AT THIS PRICE. DON'T BE KICKING YOUR SELF IN 6 MONTHS SAYING 'I SURE WISH I HAD BOUGHT THAT CAR, NOW I CAN'T AFFORD IT'. I FEEL SORRY FOR PEOPLE THAT BUY A RUSTED HULK CHEAPLY THINKING THEY GOT A GREAT DEAL AND THEN FINDING OUT WHAT IT WILL COST TO RESTORE IT. A GOOD PROFESSIONAL RESTORATION ON AN XKE WILL COST $125,000 OR MORE, NOT INCLUDING THE COST OF THE CAR. IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, CHECK IT OUT, THIS IS A SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CAR, VIRTUALLY RUST FREE. THE ONLY RUST FOUND ON THE ENTIRE CAR WAS A SMALL AREA ABOVE THE LH REAR WHEEL. A NEW MARTIN ROBEY PANEL WAS 'LET IN'. PRIOR TO HAVING THE CAR PAINTED, I REMOVED AND COMPLETELY DISASSEMBLED THE BONNET AND HAD IT SANDBLASTED ON BOTH SIDES. IT WAS THEN IMMEDIATELY COATED WITH CATALIZED EPOXY PRIMER. I CAN GUARANTEE THAT THERE IS NO RUST IN THE BONNET, OR EVIDENT ON THE BODY. THIS A VERY SOLID CAR. NO RUST WAS FOUND IN THE ORIGINAL FLOORS, TRUNK, ETC. (SO. CAL. CAR) THE CAR WAS BUILT AS A DRIVER, NOT A SHOW CAR. HOWEVER, THE CAR, PROPERLY DETAILED, WOULD PROBABLY DO WELL IN LOCAL CAR SHOWS OR REGIONAL SHOWS THAT HAVE A 'DRVEN CLASS'. AS YOU CAN TELL FROM THE PICTURES BELOW, THIS CAR IS IN GOOD COSMETIC AND MECHANICAL CONDITION. IT IS A CAR THAT YOU CAN PURCHASE, DRIVE HOME AND GET SOME WAVES AND SMILES. NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. THE FOLLOWING HAS BEEN DONE TO THE CAR DURING MY OWNERSHIP: ENGINE REBUILT. BLOCK TANKED TO REMOVE INTERNAL RUST, BORED, HONED, NEW PISTONS AND RINGS, RODS CHECKED FOR STRAIGHTNESS AND BIG ENDS SIZED, ALL NEW BEARINGS, ROTATING ASSEMBLY BALANCED AND NEW GASKETS. THE REBUILT ENGINE WAS UPGRADED WITH A SCREW-ON TYPE OIL FILTER. NO MORE MESSY CANISTER TO FOOL WITH, HEAD REBUILT. MATING SURFACE PLANED TO REMOVE CRUD AND ENSURE THAT HEAD WAS FLAT, ALL 12 VALVE GUIDES REPLACED WITH BRONZE GUIDES WITH SEALS. ALL 12 VALVES WERE REPLACED ALONG WITH ALL NEW VALVE SPRINGS, ALL 3 HD8 CARBURETORS WERE CLEANED, POLISHED AND REBUILT WITH NEW KITS, ALL CHROME WAS REMOVED FROM THE CAR ALONG WITH THE ENGINE & TRANSMISSION, DOORS, BONNET AND TRUNK LID FOR A COMPLETE REPAINT IN THE ORIGINAL PALE PRIMROSE COLOR. PPG CONCEPT PAINT WITH CATALIZER WAS USED TO PAINT THE CAR. IT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL PAINT AND BULLET PROOF, BUT NOT CHEAP. AN EXTRA QUART OF THE PALE PRIMROSE PAINT IS INCLUDED WITH THE CAR. FOLLOWING COMPLETION OF THE PAINT JOB, ALL BODY RUBBER WAS REPLACED WITH NEW, ALL BUT A COUPLE OF PIECES OF CHROME THAT DIDN'T NEED IT WERE RE-PLATED, THE INTERIOR WAS COMPLETELY GUTTED AND A NEW BLACK LEATHER UPHOLSTERY KIT INSTALLED. NEW HEADLINER, CARPETS, SEATS REBUILT WITH NEW FOAM AND COVERED, ETC., INCLUDING THE LUGGAGE AREA MAT. A MOMO STEERING WHEEL WAS INSTALLED, SEE PICTURES, *&* 4 NEW TIRES AND 4 NEW MWS WIRE WHEELS 15"X6 1/2". THE FRONT TIRES ARE BRIDGESTONE POTENZA 205/65 R15 AND THE REARS YOKOHAMA AVS 215/65 R15. THE TIRES AND WHEELS ARE ABSOLUTELY LIKE NEW. A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS DONE AFTER THE TIRES AND WHEELS WERE MOUNTED. REBUILT BRAKE CALIPERS AND NEW PADS ON ALL 4 CORNERS, ROTORS TURNED. NEW BRAKE FLEX LINES INSTALLED. THE BRAKE BOOSTER HAS ALSO BEEN REBUILT, COMPLETE NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM FROM EXHAUST MANIFOLDS BACK. THIS IS A FACTORY TYPE EXHAUST SYSTEM, NICE SOUND BUT NOT LOUD. NEW GAZ ADJUSTABLE SHOCKS ON FRONT, REAR SHOCKS OKAY, NO LEAKS, FRONT RUBBER SUSPENSION BUSHINGS REPLACED AND FRONT SUSPENSION POWER COATED BLACK. THE RACK AND PINION STEERING RACK WAS THOROUGHLY REBUILT, INCLUDING NEW RACK MOUNTS, TIE ROD ENDS AND RUBBER GAITERS. NEW UPPER AND LOWER U JOINTS WERE INSTALLED IN THE STEERING COLUMN, A NEW ALUMINUM RADIATOR WAS INSTALLED ALONG WITH AN UPGRADED RADIATOR FAN FROM COOLCAT. IT DRAWS LESS CURRENT AND MOVES MORE AIR THAN THE FACTORY UNIT AND CAN EASILY BE RETROFITTED TO THE ORIGINAL FAN AND FAN BLADE, AS THE ORIGINAL FAN SHROUD IS RETAINED AND NO HOLES NEEDED TO BE DRILLED FOR THE INSTALLATION, GENERATOR REBUILT, NEW MALLORY UNI-LITE DISTRIBUTOR INSTALLED ALONG WITH NEW SPARK PLUG WIRES AND WIRE RETAINER SIMILAR TO THOSE USED ON THE JAGUAR C AND D TYPE RACERS, THE OLD DISTRIBUTOR, NEEDING WORK, IS INCLUDED WITH THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN UPGRADED FROM THE ORIGINAL NON-SYNCHRONIZED NUMBERS MATCHING MOSS BOX TO THE NEWER AND FULLY SYNCHRONIZED JAGUAR 'KE' TRANSMISSION USED ON THE LATER XKE'S. NEW CLUTCH PLATE, PRESSURE PLATE AND THROW OUT BEARING INSTALLED. THE ORIGINAL NUMBERS MATCHING MOSS GEARBOX IS INCLUDED WITH THE CAR, VERY RECENT WORK INCLUDES: OIL AND FILTER CHANGE,NEW CHAMPION N12YC SPARK PLUGS, NEW BATTERYRADIATOR AND BLOCK FLUSHED AND NEW ANTI-FREEZE ADDED. THE CAR MAY BE PICKED UP IN AGOURA HILLS, CALIFORNIA, OR BUYER MUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO HAVE THE CAR SHIPPED TO BUYERS LOCATION AT BUYERS COST.
