Vehicle Detail

1987 Porsche 911 Cabriolet Only 14,100 miles! VIN WP0EB0913HS171921 Engine 3.2L EFI Guards Red/Black/Black G-50 transmission Power Cabriolet top Original Blaupunkt Reno radio Very rare factory full length tonneau option Owners Manuals/Service book/Tool kit/Tire inflator/Spare tire/Jack/original storage bags Its 1987 all over again - Ronald Regan was coming to the end of his 8 year term in office, the stock market crashed, the unibomber is on the loose, Michael Jackson's BAD album was on the charts and you are looking at a new Porsche 911 Cabriolet. The Porsche cars built in the 1980s were some of the most refined versions of the original 911 platform. The model had finally reached a level of maturity in performance, reliability, and quality. These cars still had a certain level of driver involvement that makes a sports car fun to drive but now they were dialed in from constant design evolution. A late 80s car now had: a powerful ultra-reliable electronic fuel injected engine that will last well over 200k miles, galvanized steel bodies which will never rust, Air Conditioning that works, a G50 transmission that shifts well, and a better balanced smoother ride. Built in a time where 100% of the car was hand constructed by knowledgeable craftsmen using German only parts (which can not be said about cars built in the last 10 years by any manufacturer). This car came from a time and place that intended it to last forever. This car is an absolute jewel of a car to find. In all my years I have only once or twice found a car that had barely been used but also maintained/stored well. There are no oil leaks, the bottom of the car is clean and not like a car that was put away and forgoten about. This car was sold new on September 9th 1987 at Eckhaus Porsche of Leesburg Virginia. Sold by David C. to a Mr. William G who was a hedge fund manager. This car has only 14,100 miles on it. This car is as original as it gets, appears as a brand new car. Rarely driven but regularly started up and used only a couple times per year, never left to sit without use for a long time. Stored in a climate controled Maryland Garage for most of its life and never used in winter. I would like to see this car go to someone who will only put a couple hundred miles on the car per year. It is sure to be a very collectible car in the future, it's like a brand new 1987 Porsche. The color is Guards Red, the paint was just professionally buffed so it really glows. I know people will be asking me if all the paint is original, this car wears much, if not most, of its original paint but it has had some very professional paintwork done on a couple of the panels - scroll down to the bottom on the page for a video showing a paint meter test. The interior is all original and in perfect shape, the only addition was a car phone back in the 1980s - you had to be a pretty important person to put a car phone into your car in 1987 and then hardly ever drive the car (This can be removed, we decided to just leave it in place as it is in operating condition). The convertible top is original material and the top is the optional fully powered type, original cab top boot is included and in perfect shape. One of the interesting features of this car is the factory Tonneau cover which is very rare to find. This tonneau can fully cover the interior cabin without the top going up, or one side can be closed up while the driver side is open to create a single seater experience. Included in the trunk is the original never used: spare tire, jack, tool kit, tire inflator and the bag that holds the tonneau & boot. Also included is the owners manual and maintenance booklet that shows the original owner, the original selling dealer, and service stamps. A couple other receipts come with the car but there is not a large file of history on a car with such low miles - you will be the one to add to the history from here on! This car needs nothing but an appreciative new owner. It has been fully detailed, service up to date, tires are excellent. If you have questions please call Mark at 760-522-0090. The following video is to show the paint thickness with a high quality paint meter. You can make your own comclusions on original paint, regardless the car is sold as-is. There is no paint work or tape lines or any other visible while looking at this car in person. Honestly how many other sellers give you this much information before you purchase a car?
