Vehicle Detail
Selling my 1986 Iris Blue Cabriolet. I purchased this 18 months ago from second owner, a pediatrician in Westport CT. He purchased the car from Dan Jacobs when he was still service manager at Danbury Porsche. Previous owner maintained the car with Dan Jacobs/Hairy Dog garage and Speedsport Tuning. Work, besides general maintenance, included transmission synchros and R134 update to A/C system. During my owner ship car had full service, new door seals,H4 lights upgrade and replacement of 90's Supertuner with a Sony Bluetooth iPhone compatible radio. Stereo has handsfree dialing, Pandora radio and a hidden charger tray for iPhone. Most important, car has 12 miles since top end work including new valve guides, rocker arms, reground cams and other updates. While engine was out shop installed a new clutch, updated CHT sensor (2 wire) and new engine blanket. Rear spring plate bushings where also replaced. Total cost $6200. General condition: Car looks very nice and I receive compliments all the time. Some panels have been repainted due to scratches. Very presentable paint and a good match. Interior is in good condition with the exception of some scratches on passenger seat. Top is in good condition with plenty of life left. Car comes with a boot cover and a rare Speedster type cockpit cover. Never seen this before but it is in perfect condition. Mechanical: Money spent speaks for itself. NOW this is a bullet proof 3.2 that can be enjoyed for a long time. About 1 min after start up engine surges up and down in RPM for about a minute. After that it runs perfect. We thought the new cylinder head temp sensor would fix this but it didn't. Mechanic is still investigating. I don't use the A/C and it is not charged, previous owner spent $1100 with Speedsport in 2011 on new condenser, A/C receiver drier and R134 change over. System must have a leak somewhere. Car is not driven in winter and is stored in a heated garage.
