Vehicle Detail

The vehicle you are bidding on has been part of our family for 47 years. We purchased it in Milwaukee WI from Holiday Motors in Feb. 1966. It had a faded peeling white body, red interior, with a usable tan convertible top. Bought as a second car we had it totally stripped and repainted Sportsman Red in 1970 by a Corvette Shop. The engine is an original 235 vette engine but the previous owner must not have liked the blue flame color, so when we bought it the block was painted red and the rocker cover, water pump, lifter cover, oil pan, expansion tank, thermostat housing, oil vent tube, heater valve and the covers on the air cleaner were, and still are, all chrome. The only original parts we have replaced in 47 years have been the fuel pump, spark plugs and wires and 6.70/15 Atlas tires, besides we added a chrome Frantz Oil Filter in 68. The hub caps have been verified as original but have never had spinners. The interior needs some TLC. The kick panels are original along with the door panels and are in good condition , for their age. The carpeting needs to be replaced. The seats are in very good condition. All gauges work except the clock. The radio, interior lights and the heater need rewiring. All original door knobs. shift knob, and dash knobs are attached. The original side curtains are in good condition and the red bag they come in is all intact. The convertible top has not been installed at this time but the top frame has been refurbished and a brand new tan top is included, which was purchased 8 years ago. All the top fasteners and windshield header are included. We also have all new rubber door seals, yet to be installed. The rest of the car is original stock. All exterior lights and horn work. Brakes have all been redone with no miles on them. The carburetors need to be cleaned and adjusted. The car is started and run each month while we are in FL but it runs rich and blue. The valve seals need to be replaced. It has not been on the open road for ten years for fear of it being destroyed by the fuel we are forced to use and another vehicle. It has been stored inside our garage for the past 20 years, first in WI now in FL. This 54 would make a very nice frame up restoration because all the hard to find original parts are in place and nothing has been modified that we are aware of. The car is sold as is because we have no history of it's first 12 years. We hope to see this car in someones permanent collection some day, it deserves a good home! In our 70's, we will miss our oldest Vet and we're sure her son, our 78 L-82 Pace (bought new) will also miss sitting next to old 54.
