Vehicle Detail
You're bidding on a very nice 1956 Buick Special 2Dr Hardtop that's stored in a climate controlled shop. Originally From Oregon, my father purchase the vehicle in the late 80's and it underwent it's first restoration. I received the car in 2001 and have since started a second full restoration. I have the title in hand, and a lot of the cars original documents including vehicle registration cards starting in the late 50's. Vehicle has never been wrecked or raced. In it's current condition it's won first place in 'under construction' at local car shows. It does have power steering and power brakes. Car has just over 50,000 miles and runs and drives great. I use it as a 'daily driver' in the summer. I would consider the car about 90% restored, and just needs finished. There's a few pieces of stainless that need attached or replaced (I have all the pieces to the car that goes with it, but I feel some aren't worthy). Needs a Radio, dash pad attached, and interior metal trim installed, all of which I have. Small bolts, nuts, wires, washers, knobs, etc have been purchased new and replaced. Speedometer was rebuilt by Clauson, so the speedo even works. Front was lowered 4" and the rear was lowered 1". It didn't affect the ride at all, but gave it a very nice stance. large NEW within the last few years: $5,000 interior (summer of 2012) $4,500 paint (summer of 2011) Ironically July 4th of 2012 the vehicle suffered a small fuel fire which affected the paint on the drivers side. I've attached a photo so you can see the damage. The rear drivers quarter needs re-sprayed. I was quoted around $900 to get this done. The paint is Dodge Viper black and Chevrolet Caprice white. The carpet in the truck also needs replaced because of the fire. Since the fire, all tires, shocks, springs were replaced and we did a bumper to bumper on the car, nothing else was affected. The paint was essentially just licked with flames and we had it out in about 5 minutes. I've removed he gas pedal start, and placed a push button start under the dash. I've also plumbed a electronic fuel pump and system incase the original fuel pump fails on the road. Due to the fuel fire I replaced the original fuel tank with a fuel cell in the truck (polished tank, looks nice). It has a aftermarket AMP, Oil Pressure (always runs 40+), and tachometer. On Dec-02-13 at 05:37:00 PST, seller added the following information: ADDITIONAL NOTES FROM RECENT QUESTIONS: Buick has been converted to a 4 barrel carburetor using all OE Buick equipment. The WC2347 Carb and intake came off of a Riviera 322 nail head. Looks like it came from the factory. The "new" carb is actually a rebuilt that was a direct bolt on. I'm sure it could use a little tuning but seems to run just fine. Original coil/points system is still installed and working properly. Front windshield DOES have a crack in it, about 6", which started from a rock chip. All other glass is in great shape. It DOES have brand new dual exhaust which was ran correctly through he frame rails as they did from the factory. It has turbo mufflers and chrome tips. Factory exhaust manifolds are still in place. It DOES NOT have any motor oil or transmission leaks. The tarp is simply a habit from collecting cars over the years. If you look at the other vehicles in the photos, they all have tarps under them as well. *****LINK TO ADDITIONAL PHOTOGRAPHS!: http://s967.photobucket.com/user/Bieri56/library/On Dec-06-13 at 21:06:54 PST, seller added the following information: ******MORE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS ANSWERED****** Motor is perfect great oil pressure and compression Carb can be cleaned but works fine now Transmission has been rebuilt less than 400 miles ago by Bozeman Transmission, works perfectly and shifts as it should No rust in the car - there are some small spots of bondo when the car was repainted No other known mechanical Issues that I'm aware of drives down the road just fine Total miles in past year is less than 400 Car is stored in a temperature controlled building Car was not drive in rain/snow.
