Selling my very original condition 1972 BMW 2002. I believe I am the third owner, from what I understand it was originally sold in Santa Barbara CA, it then moved to the Bay area where the second owner put personalized plates on it losing its original blue plates. I purchased the car originally to build into a M2. After much deliberation, I have decided that for me, the car is too original and "good" to make these modifications - thus it is up for sale. It has a lot going for it: - Almost zero rust. I looked long and hard to find something with no rust. The only rust after careful inspection that I can find is in the drivers rear rocker, it is about the size of a pencil eraser and solid around the area. This is shown in the pictures. The "normal " rust areas are all clean. There is some surface rust color on the headlight buckets and a few brackets here and there but again this is all pictured and it truly is as rust free as any un-restored '02 I have ever seen or I think you will likely find. There is no sign of any major body work (bondo) that I can find - at least the roof and drivers door appear to be original paint - Perfect, crack free dash...really not a single one - Uncut door panels - good headliner - no rips - Everything works - with exceptions noted in the NEEDS below - Has Fridgiking AC in cabin but underhood stuff was gone when I got it. I have a almost complete, near perfect long console that can go with the car if you want to remove all of the remaining AC from the car - Original carpet - I guess this could go in either good or bad section depending on how you look at it - All seats in great shape - Runs really well once warmed up - needs some choke to get going - no smoking of any type - compression test was about 165 +/- 5lbs - likely rebuilt at some point but no records of this...motor completely stock including original air pump and single barrel solex carb - Recent brakes all around including new calipers and rotors, all new flexible lines - Also, I have the original steel wheels with tires and hubcaps (2 decent 2 not so good) that I'll include with the sale along with the original owners manuals NEEDS - Carpet :) - underdash - key rash area needs to be replaced - Rear package shelf needs to be redone - new door cards - vinyl is good - there are card kits you can get to rejuvenate the panels - Heater fan does not work - Exterior - needs to be painted to be super...but it is very presentable as it is. It is missing the headlight adjuster nut on the passenger side - you can see this in the pictures. I will try to fix this befroe delivery if I can source one - no promises on that. I am offering the car at no reserve to move it along so I can pursue the project I really want to do. Please ask questions before bidding - local inspection encouraged, shipping is at your expense but I will deliver the car to a local shipper. Non refundable deposit of $250 immediate after auction end via PayPal - remainder within 5 working days at which point I will overnight the title if you are out of town.
