Vehicle Detail
Motor tranny and rear end are original. Car has power steering, gauges with tach, bumper guards and fact air cond. I have owned this car for 35 years, I bought this car from the original owner and know all the history of this car. It still has the Gabriel HiJackers on the rear I put on in 1979. The car still handles great and can be steered with one finger. It has never been wrecked. Car was originally gold inside and out. It still runs great but the rings are worn and it builds compression in the crank case and starts smoking after a few minutes. The car does need a complete restoration. The trunk floor is rusted out, the hood is rusting in the front and needs replaced, there are bubbles under the vinyl top. Although this car needs alot of work it is the kind of car a restorer would love to find, nothing is in boxes and no one has started restoring this car. I guarantee this to be a true SS car as stated. I believe the rims are original and have 3 of the original hub caps. I am moving so internet access is limited, please just call me at 812-360-4349. Car is located near Terre Haute, Indiana. The car is driveable and can be driven on a trailer. I bought htis car on my 18th birthday and selling is not easy but I realize the chance for me to have the money to restore it is not foreseeable and the car deserves better, however I will not give it away. If reserve is not met my 6yr old son will inherit it some day. If your serious about a car to restore you shouldn't pass this one up. I am reisting my Chevelle with more pictures and seriel #'s to answer questions about originalality. Hope fully this wil let you know what you are bidding on so you can bid with confidince. The engine pad is marked T0322ED 7K172818. T is for Tonawanda engine plant, 03 is March, 22 is the day EDis for L35 tranny. 7 is for year, K is for Kansas 172818 is the seriel #. Every thing on this motor is original except the carb and distributer. Tranny is marked T-16 W.D.Div W1 A25 near the drain plug. The other side has the same T-16 WG Div marking as well as A-15-67 near the top. I have been told this is the date of manufacture. If any one has any info on the codes please let me know. The rear end is greasy and I can not find any codes but there is a red plastic tag on the filler plug stateing to use posi trac fluid. I am confident this is the original drive train. I bought this car from the original owner. It was gold inside and out with original wheel and hub caps. It still has the stock AM radio. I crawled under the car and was pleased with what little rust was there for a 47yr old unrestored car. Pics show a 5in by 1in rust hole under pass feet and a 2in hole under drivers feet. There is also sole frale rust near the same area that will require fixing. Over all it will be an easy repair. I have pics showing the body rust. The pass front fender has rust in front and behind the tire. The drivers fender has rust in front of the drivers door. The doors are very solid. The lower rear quarters were replaced in 1988 and havd no filler in them. There is some bubbling around the fender wells. The trunk is the worst part and will need a complete new pan. The trunk lock, reverse lights and inside rear view mirror are missing. I drove thid car friday and it still handles well but please don't think you can just paint it, put on some wheels and go cruisin. I am doing this at the librery with my 3yr old son so forgive my spelling. I will be online Monday to answer questions or just call.On Nov-16-13 at 07:56:51 PST, seller added the following information: I apologize to the people who where watching and bidding on this car for it's early removal. A gentleman talked me into hitting the sold button with out a deposit and he wanted to come and check the car. Being confident of it's originality I agreed to this. After he arrived it became apparent he didn't do his research. Engine serial #'s were easy to verify however he wanted to check the tranny. He came with cash in hand and having nothing to hide I said ok. He had a book that said some tranny's had a serial # on the top. I agreed to remove the tranny and there were no #'s on the top. He felt his book was the bible of identification and was afraid to commit. I said no problem and decided to do my own research. I checked out a Chiltons manual that had a good section on serial # identification. The Muncie, Saginaw and Borg Warner all have different locations for #'s. Being told this was a Warner tranny I started there and sure enough on the right side at the rear of the tranny where the tail section bolts on was the code W O 313. I decided to move to the rear axle and found the code that appears to be 17B or 77B. I think this should have a 2 letter code but have learned over the years nothing is carved in stone when it comes to these old cars. I am glad the gentleman didn't buy the car. If he would have restored the car according to his little book he would have screwed it up. If any one wants to come and check this car now bring it on.
