Vehicle Detail

I've owned this rig for 6 years now and I've barely put 2000 miles on it. My wife and I bought it because our son was too small to ride on the back a bike and he loved motorcycles. It has been used mainly for Pediatric Rides for Kids and picking up my son from school during the warm months. I'll catalog what I've done to the bike (ALL maintenance has been performed by Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD) after I convey the description that Bob's BMW used when they sold it to me. Here it is: Originally a 1976 R90/6, it was converted to a R100RT some years back by upgrading the ENTIRE driveline from a wrecked R100CS and installing the fairing from a R100RT. We sold this bike for the first time back in February 2000 and now we are pleased to take it back in and find another good home for it. The last owner logged about 10,000 miles enjoying this fine older sidecar rig over about 6 years of ownership. It has about 55,000 original miles and just under 25,000 show on the odometer as that was reset when the engine was overhauled. It is a full 1986 EML sidecar conversion incorporating the Tour T body style with thier special main frame, mounting system, swingarm, leading link forks and eight spoke wheels on the motorcycle and sidecar with flat tread tires for great handling. This machine carries a special VIN number since that time because the main frame is replaced. It has been well cared for all during it's life and looks even better today than when we first sold it because he upgraded some of the paint. Much has been done over the years besides regular maintenance including rebuilding the brake calipers, a top end rebuild around 30K, steering head bearings, wheel bearings, cables, stainless brake lines and more. We are now performing a full annual service plus installing one fresh tire and a few minor repairs. It also has an automotive sized battery upgrade installed in the sidecar's trunk and a decent am/fm cassette stereo. Not shown but included is the convertible top as neither owners have ever wanted it installed. It runs and looks great and Bob does not think you'll find a better value under $15,000 in a complete ready-to-ride sidecar rig that also looks the classic BMW role. Priced at $12,995. One thing that Bob's didn't mention is the custom rain cover for the sidecar compartment. It can be seen in the pictures. As you can see, she's not new or perfect but, this is a great bike. The seat is a Corbin saddle and it works fine. However, if I were keeping the rig, I would replace the seat cover as it's pulling apart a little. Our son is now tall enough to ride on the back of my other bike and prefers it to riding in the sidecar. It's time for another family to enjoy this rig. As I said, ALL of the maintenance has been performed by Bob's BMW and Bob's is probably the best BMW sidecar shop in the country. They regularly work on and CREATE sidecars and trikes from scratch at an unsurpassed level. In the last 500 miles, Bob's has performed the following work to this rig: New Front Tire New Battery Replace Front, Rear and sidecar brake Pads and fluid Replace Final Drive Seal Oil change Carburetors adjusted and synced. This bike is a PROPER sidecar rig. It is NOT just a bike that had a sidecar bolted to it. It has the proper leading link front end, braking system and automobile tires that make this rig safe. It has been installed and set-up correctly! If you've ever ridden a sidecar, you know exactly how crucial this is for the proper operation of the rig. If it is not installed and set-up properly, it will NOT track straight when riding and it is unsafe. This rig, like every other rig that Bob's BMW puts out, has been done right! I am asking a very reasonable $10,300 for the buy it now price but the reserve is much lower. Someone will get a great rig that has been maintained by one of the best BMW sidecar shops in the country at a great price. Thanks for looking. On Nov-06-13 at 07:05:33 PST, seller added the following information: As can be seen in the pictures of the bike, there is a crack in the side of the windshield of the sidecar. This crack has been there since I bought it. In fact, it can be seen in the copy of the original ad from Bob's. I've had at least half a dozen people ask if the crack is spreading. Instead of answering all of them individually, I'll answer all at one time. The crack is not getting larger. It was repaired long before I got the bike and has not changed in those 6 years. I've also added a close-up picture of it to show it more closely. I tried several times to get a good shot but it wasn't easy. This one turned out the best. Hope that helps. On Nov-06-13 at 08:10:27 PST, seller added the following information: To answer some more questions: Yes, the clock works just fine. Yes, the glove box AND trunk DO both lock and they are keyed alike. Yes, the AM/FM cassette stereo does work. There are two speakers and it sounds ok but, it's not super loud. AND I also forgot to mention, the sale includes a brand new tire. I bought a spare when I replaced the front tire. It stills has the labels on it. Thanks
