Vehicle Detail
Please read the ridiculously long, entire description before bidding, so you know exactly what you will be getting. Thank you.A little background: A few years ago I decided to sell my Beautiful BMW K1200RS and get a Jeep, because riding a motorcycle in the greater Boston area is perilous. Unfortunately, I had a wife imposed budget of $6500. As I found out, $6500 does not buy you much in a Jeep. I ended up buying an 89 Wrangler with some nice MT 33's, suspension lift, awesome paint job, but with a tired Chevy 350 that looked like a 12 year old installed it. So I figure, worst case, I drop a new engine in it. Until I found out it also needed a major frame repair. Now, at this point I wish I had cut my losses and just sold it cheap (I would have disclosed the frame issue), but I didn't. The body was in perfect condition, so I started looking for a frame. What I found was a mechanic who started a CJ build. He had an acid dipped and recoated frame with a 4" suspension lift, Dick Cepek shocks, 4 wheel disc brake conversion with stainless steel lines, a professionally rebuilt blue printed and balanced Chevy 350 block, Pro Built, rebuilt TH400 transmission with Art Carr shift kit, converted to Torrington roller bearing, Dana 300 transfer case setup with twin stick conversion for 4wd, Rebuilt front and rear axles with Moser one piece rear axle kit. He was working on this when he got divorced and then shelved it. It was stored in his heated shop like this for a number of years when I bought it. I then took the Jeep and the rolling chassis with engine, tranny, etc to a hot rod and customs place in Maine. I had them swap the body onto the rolling chassis, then I had basically everything replaced with new parts except the body itself. After somewhere north of $20,000 in parts and labor (bringing my total investment north of $30,000, Why didn't I buy my buddy's Defender 90?) I had the YJ body on the CJ frame, all new billet running gear on the engine, new water pump, power steering pump, power steering arm, steering stabilizer, Headman Headers, full dual exhaust, new front and rear drive shafts, B&M light truck mega shifter, new Phantom Autometer Gauges, new 21 gallon poly fuel tank, Throttle down customs tranny skid plate, new tire carrying rear bumper with Blitz fuel can and Hilift jack holders, new Edelbrock performer intake with Edelbrock AVS 650 off road carburetor, inside of tub completely rhino lined, new Powermaster starter, distributor, wires, and plugs. I'm sure there is more. I have 3 file folders full of paperwork and receipts. This bring us to today. When I got this back from the shop, it still wasn't 100% complete. The mechanic/builder who did most of the work was great. Unfortunately he left the company before this was completed. The owners son took over buttoning it up, but I don't think he really knew what he was doing. That is why I have a windshield washer reservoir as the radiator overflow. He also seemed to not know what a torque wrench is. It doesn't need a lot more, but I have been threatened with divorce if I put another penny into it. It is currently registered and inspected in MA. I have been driving it back and forth to work here and there, but have no place to keep it for the winter, and part of the "not another penny into it" would be a top and doors. So, the following is a list of what needs to be done, and what I believe this needs to make it 100% complete:Tranny inspection cover: For some reason, I didn't get one with the tranny.Fuel gauge needs to be hooked up.Tranny temp gauge is not hooked up.Has sound bar and stock speakers, but no head unit (I was going to do a full custom dash)No top or doors. There are doors in some of the pictures, but no doors are included in auction. There are some leaks to chase down. Tranny (from the pan, wasn't able to get at all the bolts, but the ones I did get to were not very tight, the skid plate is still off), engine oil (haven't had to add any oil, but it is leaking from somewhere), power steering fluid (this was fine until I hit it with the pressure washer. Seems to be leaking at the steering arm connection.Don't know what happened to the rear seat brackets, but they are missing. Being held in by the seat belts.Emergency brake is not hooked up.Proper radiator overflow. That is everything I know of. This really just needs someone with more time than I have to finish it properly, and maybe a little more money put into it. I will get video of the Jeep running and driving posted somewhere in the next day or two and link it here. It's a shame to have to sell it, but it needs a few more bucks to complete. I have clean title (not salvage, etc). The title states the mileage at 180,000. Again, the only thing with mileage on it now is the body, everything else is rebuilt or new. Jeep is located in Wilmington, MA. If anyone wants to physically check it out prior to the end of the auction, that can be arranged. I know what I have invested in this, and I know I will never get that back out of it. I'm not even sure what a realistic value for it is. I guess I will start at $6500 and see what happens. I probably have that just in the motor and wheels and tires. This is listed for sale locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells by other means. It is the responsibility of the buyer to pick up in MA or arrange shipping. I will get video up as soon as possible. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Again, Please read the ridiculously long description so you know what you are bidding on. I have described this as accurately as possible. This vehicle is sold as is. There are no warranties and no returns. My wife is sick of looking at it.Lots of additional pictures here: http://s246.photobucket.com/user/jasonj84/slideshow/ http://s246.photobucket.com/user/jasonj84/library/?sort=3&page=1 On Nov-05-13 at 08:20:56 PST, seller added the following information: Here is the youtube link. http://youtu.be/VAfXX_vs2-Q
