1978 Honda CB550K, fully refurbished. A beautiful vintage bike and a reliable daily rider.14,610 miles, the last 3500 miles are mine this spring and summer. I bought this bike from the estate of the original owner with 11,112 actual miles on it. It had sat in a garage under a bike cover, apparently since the late 1980s, so the paint and decals are original and the chrome is pretty nice. There are a few minor nicks in the paint on the tank visible close up, but the side covers are pristine. I disassembled every system on this bike, cleaned, replaced parts, and reinstalled as required. Work done and parts replaced: Top end rebuilt, all engine gaskets from cylinders up (including head gasket and "pucks") replaced, valves and head done at machine shop, Carbs completely rebuilt and synched, jetted for best performance. Removed pod filters and restored original stock air intake, lifetime UNI filter Installed PAMCO electronic ignition New (at 14,200 miles) Kenda Challenger tires, professionally installed Rebuilt front brake master cylinder and caliper, new stainless steel brake lines Changed fork oil Replaced steering head bearings with roller type Changed engine oil and filter (at 14,200 miles) and cleaned oil pan and sump Fuel tank cleaned (no rust, tank coating was not required) Replaced petcock Valves and cam chain adjusted New Motion Pro throttle cables (pull and push), choke cable and clutch cable New battery Rear brake cleaned, inspected and adjusted New drive chain and sprockets Professionally installed custom Travelcade seat cover (also throwing in a stock "flat" seat off a 1977 CB550K, which is the only other year that fits this bike, but it needs re-covered) The only modifications on the bike are: Kerker 4-into-1 exhaust, Koni shocks, engine guards, Travelcade seat and a headlight modulator (makes the hi-beam strobe flash for better visibility). This machine looks and runs great. I have been riding it all summer. It is an awesome ride, reliable, quick and sporty handling, and gets 40-45 mpg. The only known defect is some oil seepage from around the valve cover (NOT the head!) on the left side. I have a new OEM gasket, will install or include with the bike.I have all the receipts and many photos I took during the restoration.Ohio title and current registration in my name.
