Vehicle Detail
1982 Porsche 911SC Targa with LOW miles (less than 80,000!) for restoration. This auction is for a 1982 Porsche 911SC Targa PROJECT car. It has low miles and is straight and relatively solid, so is an excellent basis for restoration. The miles are low, original, and correct at 79,820. This Porsche comes with Bilstein "green" shocks and OEM Porsche aluminum wheels (off of a later car) with four matched Dunlop DZ101 tires with good tread remaining. Beyond a thorough description (below), I've also included 65 large images so that you can bid confidently and know what you're buying here. Please get in touch for anything I may not have covered. The body of this 911 is straight and pretty solid. The chassis and the floorpan appear good, as do a majority of the panels. There is rust in the front fenders, the rocker panels, and around the battery box. I will include with the sale a pair of excellent-condition OEM front fenders (see pic) as well as rocker panels (no pic, same red color as the fenders). Because the car does sit outside (I put it in my garage when I have room for it, and just outside when I don't), I took precautions to prevent further damage: I covered over any open holes (with black duct tape) to keep rain out, and any areas of compromised paint (scratches, chips, rust, etc.) I quickly (and not very professionally) rattle-can sprayed with black primer and paint. One very important point to remember: the rust on this car was caused from SITTING outside, not from being driven in salt and other harmful elements. Precipitation rusted certain panels where water either collected (the fenders) or ran down (the rockers). The previous owner also made the (serious) mistake of not removing the battery from the car when he stopped driving it...the battery acid and acid vapors destroyed the area around the battery box (see image). What this means is that salt, etc. did NOT accumulate in cavities and other tight areas and cause rust over the 79,000 miles the car has covered. Now if only the previous owner hadn't left the car outside uncovered for so long! The drivetrain was missing (removed by previous owner's mechanic to build a high performance engine out of it) when I bought this car as part of a two-911 deal - you can see my other one behind this one in the garage in some of the images. The braking, suspension, and steering components are still in place with the exception of the steering rack. I've never put a battery in the car (the one shown in one of the images was the one in it when I bought the car), but all wiring is intact, as well as all accessories and lenses (although the taillights are mismatched - one amber, one red). The rear center lens is cracked. Front fog lamps are missing bulbs and lenses. The interior is mostly complete but needs work as well. The brown dash has some cracks, as does the tan driver's seat. The passenger seat is in far better shape than the driver's, and the rear seats are in excellent shape. All of the gauges and switchgear is still in the dash. Carpets are stained and a bit tatty but still usable and may clean up. I do have the door panels for the car (not shown in images). After the interior pics were taken the crest on the steering wheel was returned to the hood where it belongs...it looked tacky on the horn pad anyway. With the exception of the missing front quarter window on the driver's side (I put plexiglas in temporarily to keep out the elements) the glass is all good but the rear and side windows need an awful tint job removed. I do have a truck and trailer and can deliver to you if you need/want me to, but please get in touch to discuss that and work out a transport price and logistics before bidding. I can be reached through eBay's messaging system or on my personal cellphone at 516.983.FIAT for any questions you have or to set up a time to come and see the car. Thanks and good luck bidding. THE SOURCE: We own and maintain a collection of over 100 cars, primarily European. Additionally, we've acquired many former Fiat, Lancia, Bertone, Pininfarina, Volvo, Triumph, GM, and other dealer inventories over the past 20 years. This is our specialty. Be sure to see "Seller's Other Items For Sale" link above right or visit our store for more great deals on rare vintage cars and parts. WHO WE ARE: FiatLancia is a family-run entity specializing in original equipment manufacturer (OEM) classic/vintage parts for (primarily) European automobiles, but we also offer some other items for which we need to find new homes. We have purchased many dealership inventories over the past twenty-plus years, so in some cases these are new old stock (NOS) parts, but almost all are OEM. We simply offer these sometimes rare parts to enthusiasts like us out there that need them, just as we buy what we need (and like) on eBay ourselves. We're not a commercial operation or a formal company, just dedicated car enthusiasts: in addition to the dealership inventories, we maintain a collection of over 100 cars, including show winners, drivers, restoration candidates, and parts cars. We're very active in club activities, attending car shows and other club events nearly every weekend between May and October. FiatLancia also restores and sells complete cars custom-tailored for individual clients, specializing in Fiat Spiders and X1/9s. OTHER PARTS: Please click here or on the little red door just to the right of my eBay name and feedback rating above to visit our eBay store and see all the other great items we're offering. You can check our other auctions if you click here or on the "Seller's Other Items" link above on the right. Please click here or on the word "FiatLancia" under the "Seller info" heading above right if you would like more information about us and the cars we are currently dismantling. Please consider adding us to your "Favorite Sellers" list as we'll be listing parts from our purchased inventories and parted-out cars as well as other sources. Contact us via eBay's messaging system ("Ask a question" above right) and we can reply with our personal email address and/or phone number if you'd like to get more information via email or phone. OUR TERMS: Pay quickly. That's all I'm allowed to say about payments without violating any policies. In person pick-up is welcomed on any item, especially larger/heavier items, where pickup may be an absolute requirement. We may be able to assist with in-person delivery as we do travel often, but this should NOT be assumed, advance arrangements MUST be made and you MUST receive written (email) confirmation from us PRIOR to the end of the auction. Otherwise, buyers will be responsible for shipping costs, and items will be shipped via United States Postal Service within one or two days once payment is received. The eBay shipping calculator is not always accurate but we try our best to estimate and input measurement/weight data as best we can. Packaging, handling, crating, and other "fees" are NEVER charged for normal, easily-shipped items. Happy to combine items in a single package (where possible) to lower shipping costs for you. Engines, transmissions, windshields/glass, body panels, bumpers, seats, and other large items will be pick-up ONLY, but there are companies out there (such as UShip.com, for example, where we are also registered under the same name) that may be able to help you out with getting large items delivered. We are willing to work with you should you need to hire such a carrier (scheduling, meeting, helping load, etc.) but all such arrangements are solely the buyer's (your) responsibility. We're enthusiasts like you and are happy to help however we can. Our 10-plus-years of buying and selling on eBay and our feedback rating attest to the fact that we're there for you. Bid confidently!
