Vehicle Detail

This is a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible with working factory air conditioning. Other factory options include: power steering, power brakes, power windows, tilt-wheel, push-button AM/FM Radio, outside remote mirror, two-speed wipers with windshield washer, tinted glass, interior trunk light. I purchased this car from Chequered Flag, a classic car dealer in Los Angeles, in 2006. They indicated that this is a California car, coming out of a collection. This is a great looking car. It needs mainly cosmetic work (for example: trunk lining, tear in driver's seat, please call for details) to bring it to show quality, but I have had a lot of fun driving it as it is. Chrome and paint are in generally in very good condition. There is a small rust spot by the driver side small window (see pictures). Original radio worked when I disconnected it to use a radio (now removed) built in the glove compartment. The car drives very well. Tires are Cooper tires on original 14 inch wheels. Mileage is unknown - hence the 0 in the field above. If you have any questions contact Marc 202 - 7019619 Terms of sale: 1. On Oct-12-13 at 15:44:05 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATE: I have had several discussions about the car's condition over the phone that I'd like to share with all bidders. The main questions revolve around the following topics:- Can the car be used for long distance travel? Yes, I have made several road trips, the last big one in 2010 from DC to Houston to New Orleans and back to DC. This is a great car for such trips. Other than that, I have used it mainly over the week-end when the weather is nice. - Body: as outlined in the description, the only rust spot I know of is on the little window by the driver's side as shown on one of the pictures. Paint and chrome are generally in very nice condition. The paint is not original. The car was repainted in 2012 with a recent update for small spots/nicks. The chrome on bumpers and around the car is very good condition. The chrome on the interior side of the windshield pillars shows some signs of wear (white spots), but no rust. Weatherstripping on driver side door needs to be fixed. According to my mechanic the underside of the car is in great condition. - Top: the top works well and goes up and down without issues. As indicated in one of the written responses, the side cables need to be fixed (not necessary for operation though) , the vinyl is a bit weathered and the roof line needs to be adjusted so that it pushes less on the rear windows, one of which will not come up fully with the top on. It works fine with the top off. This did not bother me since I simply put the windows up before putting the top on. Similarly new (2010) weatherstripping pushes too much on the windows. - Dash: fuel gauge works, odometer also, speedometer is 10% fast, clock does not work, neither does battery charge indicator (I think they are not connected); I have installed a temperature gauge (instead using of the warning light on the dash which is now disconnected) and placed it in the glove compartment so that the dash is unchanged. Heating, A/C and fan work well and so do the switches to switch from one to the other; switches to redirect air from main vent to windshield do not work. Windshield wipers and washer work well. Original radio is in dash but is not connected to speakers. There is hairline crack on top of the vinyl part of the dash. Metal and chrome are in great condition. Same for the wood trim which I have oiled it to keep it from cracking. Apart from the red paint the dash is original and looks great, one of the reasons I bought the car in 2006.- Carpet: is in good condition but has a spot by the backseat. - Car comes with original manual.
