Up for sale is my 1988 BMW E28 M5. I have owned the vehicle since March 2006 and have put approximately 30,000 miles on it during that time. It currently registers 193,785. It has been used as my daily driver in conjunction with my E39 540i. It has been a pure joy to own and drive, and is being listed now, as my near 70 year old knees are telling me it's time to switch to an automatic transmission. Yes, it does happen. I have driven BMW's since the mid 70's and am a long time BMWCCA member. The attached photographs depict the current condition of the cosmetics. The paint and trim are original. It has been garaged during my ownership. It looks great on a cloudy day, not so good in direct sunlight. All panels are original. I believe it's had a prior minor left rear quarter impact. There is no rust on the vehicle. Since my purchase I have replaced all the bushings on the front suspension, all rotors and pads, all the hydraulics, to include a new clutch pedal assembly, the clutch, the rear seal on the engine, both front and rear seals on the transmission, and various pads and mounts. The condenser is new as is the entire A/C system. The compressor has been replaced with an aftermarket one which is far superior to the OEM. The chain tensioner has been replaced and the car will come with a Fahey Hub. I have spent $14,770.00 on various parts, repairs and tires. Receipts have been maintained and will come with the car. SMOG tests have been passed without issue. The interior center tunnel and lower dash panels have been redone in matching leather as have both front seats. The seats are the original ones but due to a miscommunication between myself and the upholsterer, they were not done in proper M fashion. A fairly simple repair however, involving just the center panels. The sunroof operates as it should and the seal has been replaced and does not leak. The door panels and rear seat are in excellent condition. The car drives without issue and has been serviced and maintained by me during its ownership. All mechanical work has been done by a factory trained BMW mechanic. I have a spreadsheet of the work completed on the car and can make it available. This 1988 BMW will be sold with clear & clean Nevada title in hand with current registration. The car will be sold "AS IS" with no written or verbal warranties expressed or implied. I welcome prospective new owners to come see, drive, feel and inspect the car in person. There will be no post-sale inspections to determine whether you actually want to purchase this car.
