OVERVIEW
Trucks are right up there with 1932 Ford’s as my personal favorites to own, collect, buy, and sell. Something about them makes not only ME smile, but every single person you drive by as well.
This amazing 1952 Chevy 3100 5-window pickup captures the Pro-Street style, is highway friendly, mildly built for easy maintenance and reliability, and is filled with so many amazing one-off custom touches and features that you can find something new every time you look at it!
Conceived, designed, built, and formerly owned by one of the top Tool & Die men at John Deere Tractor, this incredible truck is one of the nicest examples I have seen, and is sure to turn heads and win trophies with its new owner as well.

DESCRIPTION
It’s no secret that I LOVE OLD TRUCKS. From the 30’s to the 70’s, if it has a bed and a cab, chances are I will fall in Love with it, even if it is a fleeting romance.
This one-of-a-kind 1952 Chevrolet 5-window 3100 truck would be the only one that would stand a chance of me marrying it, because it simply has it all, and you couldn’t possibly ask for more!
Starting with an already clean, solid, and bone stock 1952 pickup that was being driven regularly, the project began as a concept in the mind of the prior owner/builder/designer who was a lead Tool & Die maker for the John Deere Tractor Company.
Drawings were done, plans made, and the truck was stripped bare to begin the almost 2 year build process which resulted in the full custom show truck you see today.
The frame was cleaned, stripped of any and all unnecessary tabs and mounts, and then smoothed and painted prior to having the new chassis set up affixed to it.
Front end is a full power rack with sway bars, and a mix of rubber and poly bushings. Spindles are dropped and treated to performance disc brakes with performance calipers and pads.
Rear is a narrowed FORD 9” unit that is smoothed and fit with 31 Spline axles, and a 3.53 rear ratio. It is mounted to the chassis via a custom fabricated 4-link system that is fully adjustable and comes with extremely high-dollar adjustable coil-over shocks.
Rear braking is handled by power disc units with polished pro-series calipers, and the truck slows from speed easily without any excessive fade, modulation, pull, or wander.
A custom fabricated exhaust was laid out and cleanly installed for maximum clearance and accessibility. It sounds incredible exiting from the dual megaphone tips out back.
The chassis needed to roll, so a set of sweet looking WELD RACING Rodlite rims was selected and installed. They are wrapped in relatively fresh Goodyear rubber front and rear.
Upfront, a set of Invicta GL’s are sized P205/70R15, while out back, a pair of monster Wrangler APT’s are sized 31X10/50R15LT handle traction duties.
All of the tires have at least 85% of the useable tread life remaining, and show to be clean and damage free.
Once the roller was complete, it was time to install the powertrain, and a fresh GM 350cid 5.7L motor was selected and built from the block out to be a mild running, easy to maintain, and long-haul reliable engine for this machine.
The engine bay is ULTRA clean, and shows of a lot of the prior owners handiwork when it came to turning billet aluminum into functional and beautiful parts for this amazing truck.
Everything you see under the hood that is billet aluminum was designed, drawn, machined, and hand built by one of the lead tool & die men at John Deere. You will NOT find another one like it anywhere, because it was all custom done for the truck.
These days, when everyone can just hop online and order practically anything they want at the push of a button, having something that is truly hand-crafted and unique is worth its weight in gold!
The parts are not only beautiful to look at, but close inspection reveals that everything has been made to the most exacting tolerances and specifications that you would expect from a Master Craftsman.
From the firewall to the radiator support, inner fenders to the frame, everything has been painted to match the exterior of the truck, and shows fantastic! It is a little dirty, as we have not professionally detailed it yet, but once you get it home and clean it from front to back, just imagine how amazing it will look!
Plenty of chrome bits are under the hood as well, along with a polished alternator and compressor, finned and polished valve covers, and a painted to match air breather with hand-made spinner top.
Overall, the engine bay is clean and neat enough to show off at any Local or Regional car show right now as it sits. Detail it up, and you can enter a National event with your head held high!
Transmission was a new 700R4 purchased for the build via GMPP, and it too is a mildly built unit designed for longevity and reliability. No crazy stall converters in this one, and only a mild shift kit to let you know it’s ready to rock when you are!
It connects to the aforementioned rear-end unit via a custom made and balanced driveshaft.
With the chassis complete, it was time to add the body back into the mix, and what a body it is!
The entire truck is ALL REAL, and ALL STEEL from front to back! You can run a 4”X2” felt covered magnet over the entire truck body and it will stick like glue!
This is NOT a bondo buggy, patch panel, chicken wire, or beer can bodied truck!!!!
This is a top quality, laser straight, exceptional fit and finish, ALL STEEL pickup that has been professionally chopped and finished inside the cab and out to show no sign of the chop line. That includes on the doors too!!! It is absolutely amazing work, and the prior owners Son said that his father was an old-school Kustom guy who did chops back when people took GREAT PRIDE in the work they did, and used it as a calling card for more work! It shows, as this is truly one of the nicest chop jobs I have ever seen on a vehicle!
Even the chopped sections stick like glue to magnet, and inside seam finish work inside the cab looks like you could polish, paint, and show it!
The door handles were shaved, and filled with metal, and two hidden poppers were placed on each side that I will share with the new owners.
The original fuel filler was relocated to the back of the cab, and it opens with a hidden inside release button.
In addition, the truck was cleaned of badging, unnecessary trim, and then metal filled and smoothed prior to being treated to a monochromatic finish of Porsche 997 Bright Blue.
IT LOOKS STUNNING. SCROLL THROUGH THE 100 PHOTOS BELOW AND SEE FOR YOURSELF. IT IS JUST GORGEOUS!!!
The paint was done a few years ago, but still shows glossy, slick, and wet, and reflects like a mirror!
Save for a handful or so truly minor marks like a small stone chip or hairline mark from normal driving, the finish still shows like it was just done thanks to being stored and maintained in a climate and humidity controlled garage since it was built.
There really are NO medium or major issues with the finish to mention, and the little marks I refer to are so small you can’t even capture them on camera! I tried, and they just don’t show up unless you are a couple inches away and someone points them out to you. Most eBay sellers would just say it was perfect, but I want you to know that it does have some very, very minor blemishes.
The grill, front bumper, headlamp trim rings, marker surrounds, and remaining trim were all prepared and treated to the same finish, resulting in an almost seamless look that really shows off the clean lines of the truck as a whole.
Modern slim style side mirrors were grafted to the truck and painted to match with a black trim band. They look great on the truck, and help accentuate the lines of the chop.
The rear bumper was deleted and a custom pan installed with quad lights that look fantastic on the truck. It also has custom round duplicate brake and marker lights in the roll of the bed rails! How cool is that?!?!?
I want you to also take a look at all of the mounting bolts, nuts, and washers on the outside of the truck. Not only are they clean, they were polished too, and look amazing!!! This kind of attention to detail is what separates the show winners from the attendee’s.
The hard tonneau cover was built and designed by the prior owner, and is a two-piece unit which manually lift in the front to reveal a small storage area for show chairs and cleaning supplies, along with a finished and stained wood floor and the polished cover for the cover’s motor.
A switch in the bed actuates the rear part of the cover, which lifts automatically to reveal the custom done rear tub section, finished and stained wood floor, and custom made tie down area for cargo.
The hinges on the top of the cover, as well as the base for the CB antenna (custom full length whip included!), were made by hand by the prior owner, and are one-of-a-kind.
The tonneau itself, and the insides of the bed, are covered in a marine grade cloth that is very stain resistant too.
The windshield on the truck is a two piece unit, and it is crack, chip, and damage free, but does have a little laminate bubbling in the center as shown in the photos below. Nothing major, but I want to let you know.
Side glass is in excellent condition, and works perfectly via the power window controls on each door.
Rear windows are custom cut and tinted plexi-glass units that are sandwich installed in the cab with a unique through-bolt system that is incredibly weatherproof, and looks fantastic too!
Overall, the outside of the truck is absolutely beautiful, and pretty much flaw and blemish free.
Inside, the doors open up to reveal an interior that has so many custom touches you can’t stop finding them!
The carpeting is heavy-duty automotive grade, and is installed over layers of sound and heat proofing material. It shows damage, tear, stain, and rip free.
Door panels are custom made for the truck, and look amazing. They have armrest pads, and the inserts and door pulls were another set of parts custom made by the prior owner and builder.
The kick panels are custom made and show like new, and the custom made center console box shows wonderfully and houses a storage bin in addition to the COBRA 29 GTL CB Radio that works great! The knob on the storage bin, as well as the switch plate for the three electric switches on the front of the box were more hand made parts.
Headliner was custom made for the truck, and is padded and board backed with a custom stereo console that currently holds the Sony XR-4257 head unit with removable chassis.
The stereo sounds amazing through the Infinity speakers in the truck, and makes everything from Back to Rock sound great!
A working dome light lets you see things at night.
The dash is painted to match, and is stuffed with a large custom-fit AutoMeter Pro Comp Speedometer/Tachometer with trip and matching Tachometer.
Center dash houses AutoMeter Sport Comp gauges for FUEL, OIL, WATER, and VOLTS.
All of the gauges appear to be functional and accurate, although I have not individual calibrated each one.
A GM tilt column is topped with a sport steering wheel, and has a custom made billet tilt arm, billet signal arm, and billet hazard switch.
The prior owner actually made so many more parts on the inside of the truck, I am just going to list some of the big ones:

In addition, a dash mounted 12V cigar lighter is in place and functional.
A LOKAR billet topped shift arm with custom base plate looks fantastic, and snicks the tranny into all the gears with ease, and a safety lock out for protection.
The truck starts, idles, and runs fantastic. It shifts into gear and rolls down the highway without any odd tendencies or issues.
I have driven the truck about 85 miles since I purchased it, and find it to be an absolute blast to cruise in! It is a true testament to the attention to detail that the prior owner and builder had, because it really feels tight, solid, and is an easy vehicle to operate in town or on the freeway.
It is happiest cruising around 70 mph, but I had it up to 90mph on the Speedo and it seemed pretty comfy too.
Stopping, turning, and handling are all spot on, and issue free, and the truck has a nice ride that’s not too soft, and not too firm. It’s like Goldilock’s….JUST RIGHT.
It doesn’t run hot, even in our 100 degree weather with the A/C on full blast. I saw it hit 197 at a long light, but it never creeped over that. Normally, it seems to hang out around 192 degrees indicated by the temp gauge.
Braking is smooth and sure, and the truck does not wander, pull, or do anything funny in the handling department.
In short, if you are looking for a truly one-of-a-kind truck that has NEVER been shown in a Major regional or National event, this is the one for you.
The truck deserves to be in a magazine too, and it is my hope that the new owner will pursue that, and make sure to give credit to the original builder and visionary behind this stunning, feature quality truck.
It fits everyone from our office manager who is 5'3" and 100 pounds all the way to me at 5’11 and 250, so chances are it will fit YOU just fine! If you are over 6’, you will probably need to cut the seat base bracket down (you can take about 4”’s out of it) to make sure you don’t have to tilt your head when driving it.
It comes with (2) TWO ignition keys, an info sheet supplied by the prior owners Son, and all the items shown and described above.
