Vehicle Detail

1967 Chevrolet El-Camino Ok, need space, money, etc. for other projects. I'm putting my El Camino, and my 1971 GMC Sierra 2500 pickup up for auction. This is a "Custom" model El Camino. Prior to '68 Chevy didn't have an SS el camino, so they called them a custom. The VIN # denotes the custom classification. VIN # breakdown: 1=Chevrolet, 36=Custom El Camino V8, 80= 2dr. sedan, pickup, 7= 1967, Z= Fremont, CA, 102926= sequential build #. I bought this last year from a man who operates his business next door to mine. I had seen him working on it, off and on for several years. He needed money, so I bought it. He had originally purchased the truck from his neighbor, an elderly woman, who bough it brand new!! Dig that, a woman bought this new, a Custom 327, 4spd, car!! Anyhow, after my neighbor purchased it, he immediately went to work on it. He removed the body from the frame. The frame was painted black, and all suspension pieces were painted a silver metallic. New body mounts were used, the entire suspension was rebuilt using Moog parts. The rear trailing arms are boxed Edelbrock pieces. All new bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc. The rear end is the stock 10 bolt that came with it. It is factory 4.11's and has positraction. It is supported by Edelbrock springs, with air shocks. He pulled and painted the engine, cleaned the transmission, and reinstalled them. Now, the story goes that when he bought the car, it had less than 100K original miles, as verified by the woman who bought it new. The car now has 124,883 on it. I cannot validate this, but I have no reason to doubt it. The car has the #'s matching original 327, the stock Muncie 4spd. The engine was cleaned up, and reinstalled. It retains it's stock exhaust manifolds, and most else. The original 4bbl intake was utilized, but the stock Quadrajet was replaced with an Edelbrock 1406, 600cfm 4 barrel, with an electric choke. A GM HEI distributor was also used. At this time, he installed a factory GM front disc brake conversion, with master cylinder, and power booster. The car came stock with power steering, and that was left intact. Before the body was put back on the frame, it was stripped to bare metal, no rust, and no bondo. What little bodywork needed was done, then the car was painted a red and black 2 tone. This was the design made popular by Chip Foose on his TV show. It is a 2 stage, with a silver stripe breaking up the transition from red to black. The 2 tone theme continues in through the door jamb, on the inside. It was then wet sanded, and buffed out to it's now mirror like shine. With the car painted, and the frame painted, and the suspension all rebuilt, the body was set back on the frame. The interior was next. He chose Camaro power bucket seats. Hooked up and functional. All new dash pad, and trim was used. New door panels, headliner, and carpeting as well. The interior is like new. He built a custom, one off flamed fiberglass center console with a Camaro storage box. It fits, and looks awesome! He reassembled everything using all new marker lights, weather stripping, door rubbers, and new lenses, etc. Now is where I picked it up. He had built it to the Chip Foose theme, but many years had gone by, and styles had changed over the years. He had painted (body matched) the front and rear bumpers. I removed those, and put on brand new, front and rear bumpers. Triple chrome plated. He was running a set of 20" spinner wheels. I removed those, and installed Corvette style Rally wheels, chrome plated. They are like new, as are the tires. The rears are 15x8's and the fronts are 15x7's. They look awesome, and fit great. No rubbing. So that brings us to now. I have too many toys, and not enough time. So, I've decided to thin out the herd. Check my other auctions. I'm selling a '71 GMC pickup also. I can and will assist in loading for transport. The El Camino can also be stored, upon payment in full, for a period of time, while you make transporting arrangements. it is located in Chico, CA 95973.
