Vehicle Detail
1976 Pontiac Trans Am. 400ci, auto, posi rear. Hardtop-NON-T top carPower Steering, Power dick brakes, power windows, tilt, Rare rear seat center console, original keys and jack. If you are looking for a solid mid 70’s T/A this could be the car for you. This car is locked in time; it has been in dry storage for over 25 years, and after some work it runs. Not only does it run but it is clean, smooth and feels very tight. great foundation for restoration or with some work a drive as you build car. The body has all of its original metal, never wrecked and not rusted. The floors and trunk are outstanding and only need minor cleaning and paint. The only rust is the lower quarters behind the rear tires. No rust in the wheel wells around the tire. It will only need the small rear patch panels and you will be able to keep the original quarters on the car. This means keeping the factory gaps. Two spots of Bubbling are the driver lower quarter in front of the tire, about the size of a 50 cent piece and one smaller bubble on the fender. NO OTHER RUST. See pics. That means no rust in the shock towers, trunk hinge or lip areas, rockers and so on. This is an honest car with one repaint, that is chipped scratched and thin, over factory silver and you can see everything. Some bad body work showing through on the upper passenger quarter, but again no major damage or rust issues in that area. The car is sharp. I have been around old cars for a long time and I know where to look for cancer. I can say this is the most solid mid 70”s F body that I have ever found. The frame and underside of this car are solid as the day they left the factory. 400 engine not original block, built by custom engine builders out of Akron Ohio in the early 80’s. Original 6X code heads. The fuel tank was flushed, lines cleaned, new fuel pump, rebuilt carb, pre- lubed engine, new fluids, muffler, some brake work, trans filter and fluid, and click she came alive. Not only does this car run, but it runs good, very good. It is smooth with a clean idle and not a wisp of smoke. No ticks no knocks and it feels clean and strong driving it. It will need a rear main oil seal before it can be a daily driver. The time sitting took its toll on that part. The time in storage did keep the body from being beat down. When you drive the car it doesn’t have the rattles and interior noise that most Trans am and camaro’s have. It does have some storage dings and a crease in the driver door. The doors, trunk deck and hood close with ease and are nice and tight. Inside storage also kept the interior plastic, seat backs, back panels, etc, from becoming brittle. They are in great condition. The back seat is in very nice condition with no rips and nice soft material. The rear seat console is beat up but intact (rare only 2% in 76 with this option) the front console is in excellent shape, nice and soft with no cracks or breaks. Front seats need recovered. Needs a headliner. Dash is in good shape with one small hole in the top of the pad. It is missing the radio, gauges work as do the lights, heater and wipers As I stated earlier, I have been around cars for a long time. I traveled to buy cars and found them not even close to as described. Not fun. I will tell you the good and bad about any classic car and describe them to the best of my knowledge. I might miss something, but I can tell you I inspect the cars I buy, top to bottom and more than once. If you buy a car from me you can bet it will be solid. I believe in a face to face deals and I think high deposits are just a way to rope a buyer who hasn’t even seen the car. I don’t need a deposit, unless you are going to take forever to buy the car, and then I really don’t want to wait that long. Bid what you feel it is worth and come pay and pick it up (Within 7 days) If that won’t work for you let me know during the auction and we can work out the purchase. The reserve is set low for this car, bid to win. Payment is due in bank to bank wire transfer or cash/check in person, unless otherwise worked out. All funds must clear before I will release the title or the car. Contact me within 24 hrs after the auction or I reserve the right to sell to the next highest bidder. This car is for sale so please no games. If you have any questions or would like a pic of any area of the car feel free to ask.
