Please read the entire posting! I am selling a 1989 JEEP Wrangler (YJ). They are great running Jeeps as gas vehicles however due to ridiculous fuel prices I legally converted it with a Mercedes 5 cylinder Turbo Diesel engine. In California, diesel vehicles with model years prior to 1997 are smog exempt. It runs great but is currently registered (non op) due to financial constraints stemming from a divorce. I have all the paperwork to prove it is legit and 100% street legal. It is lifted and has 35in BFG AT KO radials. The lift is spring over axle with reverse eye 1.5 in Rubicon express leaf springs. It also has the shackle reversal in the front with boom-a-rang type shackles. The steering is custom built with Heim Joints. The Jeep has about 185k miles and the engine has about the same. The best part is that it is converted to run on used vegetable oil. The system works for me great but it takes a lot of time and effort and the veggie fuel lines by now should probably be cleaned out. (It’s nice to use free fuel but you have to keep in mind that maintenance comes with it). The main 20 Gallon tank is converted to hold veggie oil and there is an additional 8 gallon tank that holds diesel fuel. If you don’t want the veggie option you could use both tanks for diesel. The Jeep has been sitting a while so I have removed the battery to put it on charge. The battery is out of it but I started it on 7-10-13 with a jumper box and cables and it fired right up. The front bumper has 4 off road lights (they are not hooked up but they are there). The rear bumper includes a swing out spare tire carrier that holds two red gas cans. I replaced the original brake lights with 4" round LED lights that are really bright. The motor mounts have also been replaced with hydraulic mounts. It also has a stereo CD player. I have the bikini top that goes with the jeep. It is the kind that goes over the back seat a bit so the back passengers will be in the shade. The tires are in pretty good shape and are wearing evenly as expected. The jeep has some small leaks. I have not identified if it is the veggie oil or just some engine oil seeping. If you are looking for a custom hybrid fuel vehicle that does not have a single issue, then go spend your $50k on that car. If you want a custom car that is going to need tweaking here and not pay a ridiculous price, then keep reading. I am trying to make it clear that this is not a mint or excellent condition car, but it certainly is worth what I am asking for. I have had the Jeep for a long time but it is now that time for me to bid farewell to it. ***Please don't call me and ask me to drive the Jeep without a plan to purchase it. You must verify your funds before we consider a test drive. I am not a dealership and am done with tire kickers just wanting to see how a veggie hybrid drives.*** I only want serious buyers to call me. I am firm on the price but need to sell due to a divorce.
