Vehicle Detail

GENERAL: Please note my perfect feedback and how long I've been with eBay. eBay is not my business however I am proud of my long-time perfect feedback and plan to keep it that way. I don't put any spin on things I sell here. I try very hard to give an accurate, honest description of each item. If you need to know anything that I have not included below, let me know; I am very responsive to Emails or phone calls. If you are a serious buyer I will spend whatever time you need. I initially listed this bike and a lot of extra parts a couple of weeks ago with a reserve. That listing ended just below the reserve and I had a lot of inquires for pricing the bike without the extra's. So I have put some more effort into making a more informative listing. This time the bike is listed with: NO RESERVE, a lowered price, removal of some of the misc extra parts, added high resolution photos in the listing, more descriptive details, and answers to some of the questions asked last time. For what it's worth, about 15 years ago I was offered $5000 for the bike more than once when I had it at events; I declined as I was still too sentimentally attached to it. A $3000 starting bid is a steal, if it goes that cheap. BIKE: Honda's original K0 series, H model (4 speed with clutch), Honda Trail 70, RARE CT70H mfg date 1971. This is the coveted 4 speed with clutch in museum condition. I am the second owner. I bought it with 314 actual miles on it, it has not been restored. I did change the swing arm with a Honda NOS swing arm (Honda painted) just because I was able to get one. The original swing arm in very good condition will be included by request. Otherwise, the candy-blue-green paint on the bike is all factory original parts. Look at the details in the photos, The brake springs and hardware, the cables, the grips, etc. are all factory original. They speak to the care this bike has seen to be this old and in this condition. It has always been stored in a HVAC space both with me and the previous owner. The original owner had it for a camp bike, used it with his motor home and all the miles it did have are adult ridden around KOA campgrounds. It's never been wrecked, crashed, child ridden, bent or broken in any way. The perfect, original handlebars and grips alone are a testament to that. I got it for sentimental reasons since the CT70H was my first bike. I planned to use it as a pit bike but after taking it to a few events, I decided it was too valuable to risk injury or wear and put it away for display and safe keeping at my home shop. Now, about 20 years later, I am selling it because I need these 2 mini-bikes out of my way. I no longer have any use to ride them, and I don't want to put any wear on them. My immediate motivation is that I am a high school robotics team mentor and I'd like to have the bikes gone and out of the way, before the season starts in August. The mileage in the photograph is the actual mileage on the bike, ever, original speedometer. The original plastic headlight shell has a very small, albeit typical hairline crack from age, but I have a new Honda OEM Candy-Blue Green (from Honda, not painted) headlight shell that I will let go with the bike. There is NO NEED to change the original, it's fine, this is just another "backup" part I obtained. It would be a shame to not keep it with this bike. Highly sought after Candy Blue-Green, all Candy-Blue Green paint is original Honda paint in 9 of 10 condition. Bike is titled to me, and registered with a non-expiring TN Antique license plate. Serial Numbers are correct for engine and frame, both photographed. The original seat (not pictured) is flawless except for one 1/4" crack in the vinyl near one of the rivets from age. I changed the original to the new one in the photo to prevent damage or wear to the original. The seat in the photos is an exact replica, brand new condition. Unless otherwise requested, the bike will sell as pictured, with the new seat. As an option and by explicit request after the auction, I will change the seat to the factory original seat if the buyer chooses. Look around eBay at the other listings. Some of them are ridiculous claiming 500 miles on bikes that wouldn't look like they do unless they had 5000 miles on them. This is the real thing. It is not a new bike, it is the original, collectible CT70. Not a junker rebuilt from parts, etc. The only one I have ever seen in this condition. If you want something to ride on the farm or let the kids play on, get one of the junkers. If you want a piece for your collection, this is it. NOT INCLUDED in this auction but available: Before this bike I started collecting parts anticipating having to restore one to have one. I had connections with a local Honda shop and I ordered extra parts for years as they trickled in as old stock from around the world. The parts I have include some used and a lot of NOS parts I continued to collect thinking I might need them one day if I ever accidentally damaged anything. The winner of this auction will have first pick to purchase the extra parts I have available (again, not included as part of the auction). After this bike sells I will inventory and list the parts as a lot or possibly a few separately, in a separate auction if necessary. At this time, I will NOT sell any of my extra parts until after the bike sells. NOT INCLUDED in this auction but available: I also have a new (64 miles) 1994 model in equally flawless museum quality, like to sell as pair (the 1994 is not included as part of this auction). I'm older now and just don't have the room for them anymore. I would sell these together, contact me if you'd like to discuss. FINALLY: For the collector the 2 bikes that I have represent Honda's classic trail bike in the best version, last production of the first model series CT70, and the 1994 last model ever made. For so many, me included, the Trail 70 started their world of motorcycles for many years to come. Every kid on the planet wanted one of these in 1970. I was one of the lucky ones. This CT70 is a piece of history, frozen. The 94 model I have is a very nice compliment to the original. First, and Last. Contact me to discuss any detail or question via eBay or email at scott at techht dot com. SHIPPING OPTIONS: 1. Local pickup preferred. If you fold the bars down it will fit in the back of any SUV and a lot of cars. 2. I can deliver or send someone with the bike to meet you if not too far from Nashville, TN. Full payment required before I go on any road trips. 3. I will be out of town from 7/21/13 to 7/27/13. I cannot ship, deliver, or have the bike picked up during that week. If it is a critical need to pickup that week, contact me and I'll try to work something out. 4. Shipping: If you need the bike shipped, the cost of shipping is not included in the auction. I will assist with the arrangements with your preferred carrier. Possible shipping companies I have found with reasonable rates: - Wolverine Cycle Logistics (link). Recommended to me by a couple of CT collectors. They specialize in coast to coast motorcycle transport and will move the bike in an enclosed motorcycle trailer (not a semi). They will tie it down just like any normal motorcycle trailer and roll the bike up to your door. They had the most reasonable rates when I checked against other freight options, and no crating was required which is nice - uBid.com: I got a quote there that was very competitive from BigRobShipping. INTERNATIONAL: International customers would have to meet very specific and more stringent payment requirements, contact me for details. Basically I must have cash in hand before I will ship internationally. PAYMENT, TRADES: Payment terms are detailed in the listing. I would consider trades for things of equal or higher value, but am not looking for anything in particular. Contact me off-line if you have something in mind. No guns (someone asked). RIGHT TO CANCEL AUCTION: This bike is listed locally and in other internet venues so I reserve the right to cancel at any time if any reasonable offer is accepted. BID SNIPERS Don't be outbid by a bid sniper (bidders who used automated services to place their maximum bid at the last second). The only way to combat it is to bid your maximum proxy bid before they do. eBay will only bid the minimum to keep you the highest bidder, not your full amount unless required to win. WARRANTY, RETURNS, TERMS: All items are sold as is, no warranty expressed or implied, unless otherwise noted. All sales are final, deposits are non-refundable. I am very responsive to e-mail questions so if you have one let me know before bidding. Bidding is a contract; see E-bay's policies on bidding if you don't understand. I try very hard to give an accurate, honest description of each item. READ the description carefully. LOOK at the photos. My intent is full representation and I have made every effort to describe and show you a complete view of the item in lieu of a personal visit to see yourself. If there is something I did not cover that you need to know, please ASK. I must hear from the winning bidder per the terms of the listing. Otherwise I reserve the right to re-list or sell to the next bidder. Appropriate feedback will be left for all winners. I will appreciate the same. I will not hold your feedback "hostage" and will provide appropriate feedback as soon as possible. You can check my feedback for an indication of how I do business. I both buy and sell occasionally using E-bay, I have never had a negative comment either way. PHOTOS: Note: In one photo below, what what appears to be specs on the right side of the frame under the seat are water droplets that I missed wiping off after hosing the light dust that was on it. The photos are after no more detailing that squirting it with a garden hose and wiping it off with a towel.
