FOR SALE: RESTORED 1964 T6 356C COUPE WITH 912 MOTOR - EXCELLENT BLUE PLATE CALIFORNIA CAR Available for sale is this 1964 356 C Coupe, Chassis No 129951, finished in red over tan, with a non-matching 912 motor (number 756073). This is a long term California car and is one of the nicest driving 356's that I have sampled. The car is an older restoration, and appears to have been well-maintained over the years, but does show signs of use and wear. The car runs, shifts, corners and stops extremely well, and drives nicer than any other C coupe I have driven. This is an excellent entry-level 356 that can be enjoyed as-is and would benefit from some further restoration and repairs. I can provide additional photos for serious bidders. I reserve the right to end this auction early before the reserve is met. I have set a very reasonable reserve - the car could not be duplicated for the price! Body/Exterior This car is finished in a red, with paint code 6407 (signal red) indicated on the door tag. The paint still shines up nicely, showing some wear and signs of use. Overall gaps are good and consistent with a high quality driver. The decklid is original to the car. Doors close well and with the customary solid latching which 356’s are known for, although driver’s side door latch is a bit “sticky”. Chrome and bright work trim is straight, shiny and free of rust or major pitting. The glass is good throughout the car, with no apparent chipping, scratches or delamination. The floors have been patched at some point in the past, and the floors and front trunk floor are showing some wear and rust. The car can be driven as is, but new floors and front trunk bottom should be planned on and the offer price reflects this. We can provide this service for a prospective buyer at a reasonable cost. Interior The front and rear seats appear to have been re-done at the time the car was previously restored, and are very presentable and consistent with a high quality driver. Tan square weave carpet is installed and still shows well. There is a small aftermarket leather steering wheel installed, along with an aftermarket stereo. Headliner and visors are very good, the rear view mirror is currently missing but a replacement is being sought. All gauges and interior lights work except the clock. Mechanical The engine in the car is from a 912 (756073). The engine was recently tuned and serviced and runs extremely well, but the prior history is undocumented. The car retains the original 6V system, and a 6V Optima battery is installed. The car has disk brakes, which function perfectly. Transmission shifts smoothly through all four gears, with no grinding evident up or down. The car drives straight and true, and pulls strong in all gears throughout the rpm range. This car has no mechanical needs, starts instantly with a flick of the key, runs extremely well and I would not hesitate to drive it across town or across the country tomorrow. Fly in and drive this car to the 356 Club events this month! The car can be seen in Van Nuys, CA and in-person inspection by appointment prior to auction closing is welcome. We can assist with shipping to Europe. Additional photos on my website (which is my username) or at the slideshow link above Clear California title in my possession. Very reasonable reserve, and if you have another car you need to sell, let us know and we may be interested in acquiring it as part of a sale. A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction closing, with the balance due within 7 days via wire transfer or cashier's check. Car must be picked up within 14 days of auction closing unless prior arrangements have been made. Please contact me via eBay with any questions or to make arrangements to see the car or to conduct a PPI. I try to be accurate and complete in my descriptions but all prospective purchasers agree that this description is solely for convenience, and should not be considered a complete description of any or all faults, and should not be relied upon or considered a representation or warranty or any sort. The car is sold as-is, where-is with all faults known or unknown. A pre-purchase inspection is strongly encouraged. Remember, this is a 49 year old car; it is not showroom new. If you have ever had an old car, or you are considering owning one, you should understand that there is an almost endless list of repairs, improvements, corrections and details that can be attended to. Like the car, I am old too, so I may have forgotten things that are important to you. I apologize for this lawyerly disclaimer, but we live in strange times. Thanks.
