Vehicle Detail

Hello, with great sadness I'm selling my 1959 Chrysler Saratoga 4 door hardtop. She is a 25,834 original mile barn find with nice options. This car was sold new in Ark City Kansas, owners ( Cattle farmers ) were from Cedar Vale, KS, and car was parked in a barn in 1982 and didn't move from that spot until I rescued it myself. I have pics of the car where it was, even a video. It was always in the Johnson family and went from one family member to another. I have the story, some old documents, and even the family members that received the car after the death of relatives are still alive and in there 70's/80's. The original build sheet is still glued to the bottom of the glovebox as well. Did I mention it has the original keys in a vintage key fob also ? So a quick overview. I pulled the car out of the barn and basically did a power wash, vacuum, and she cleaned up pretty nice for an original. Nothing has ever been restored, repaired, painted, nothing. It even had the original spark plugs in it. I have never attempted to turn the motor over but that was my next step if I was to keep it. I found out last week I'm moving and honestly I'm losing my storage for the car at my current house. So she has to go. I'll break the car down by areas : Inside : Seats - Swivel power bucket seats / they are dirty and need a good cleaning and probably an insert on the driver side seat. The rest just need scrubbed. Headliner - a mouse was in there and I air hosed most of the stuff out and vacuumed. A few holes up there. Carpet - very nice carpet and heel pad looks new. Original Mopar rubber floormats - stained but cool for original. Rear seat - just needs a good cleaning but great shape. Rear package tray - nice and original but not perfect. Dash Pad - warped and shrinkage, but original and shines. Steering wheel - looks NOS, the thing is perfect. The horn ring pad fell off but it's in perfect shape, just needs glued back on. Outside - At some point the farmer bumped the front bumper on the pass side. I saw the Ford truck that did it as it was also in the barn. Blue paint on bumper and pushed back the clear marker light ( broke it ). It gives it some character. Chrome is all really nice. Rear bumper looks like it pulled a thing or two so dinged and bumped in a few places, but shiny. All glass is good and the windshield looks NOS it's so nice. Only rust is the drivers side dog leg area. The barn leaked on that side, and water ran in the door jamb on the rear door and got that spot on the rocker under the dog leg. That is the only rust spot on the car. The rear flip up key cover was broke. Sad as it was awesome but it is included, just broke. The plastic insert on the hood shield is gone as is the "Y" on Chrysler. Original hubcaps on the car. Paint is sad. To many barn swallows and 31 years of dust and bird poop hurt the paint. Great patina, but not going to wax up to a new shine :) Underside - Underside has surface rust but clean. It needs another good power washing as I did it as good as I could but there were literally 100 pounds of mud dobber nests under there. Frame, floors, trunk, gas tank, all solid as can be. Motor / Trans - both look really good. Air Cleaner wing nut was gone. Motor I have soaking with Marvel and WD 40. My plan was to break the tranny loose and turn the flywheel but I did not get that far. It's been soaking a while now and all cylinders are full. Trans fluid and oil look great. All things on the motor turn ( generator, AC compressor, waterpump, PS pump. Also, in motor area - original windshield washer bag - still holds fluid. Options - The car has a cool option in the Auto Pilot. Basically Cruise Control. It's a knob on the steering column. I found the instruction tag under the drivers bucket seat. A little nibbled but cool. Also has rear factory AC. I left the residue on the rear glass where the original sticker was and found a reproduction sticker and I will let the new owner decide if he wants to put it on. The perfect outline and glue is still there. Also has Swivel buckets, power seat. Inside trunk - has original wooden tire wedge, spare tire cover, jack, and trunk mat looks near perfect. Side cardboards are worn but in awesome shape. No mice ever got in the trunk. Also in the trunk were 50s era tire chains and a box full of tune up stuff, belts, and a Mopar muffler box. The color was really cool. Silverpine. It's a green color with white accents. I love the color of this car !!! Basically you are getting a barn find with some cleanup but plenty of cleaning and love needing to be given to the old girl. My personal opinion is clean it up, get it running, and leave as a patina driver as is. You could restore it, but that's the new owners call. I also have the original 1979 title from the Johnson family. Texas makes you turn your old titles in so I did not turn it in. So next owner on paper will be second owner outside of the family that bought it new !! Cool eh ? I loaded as many pictures as ebay would allow. Please email me if you'd like more. I've got as many as you want. Over a hundred more detailed pictures here : http://s1186.photobucket.com/user/nutsaboutcars/library/ Lastly, there was a thread on the forward look website where some guys helped me out as I searched for answers around some things. Feel free to go look at us as there is lots of pics and data. I appreciated all of their help. The thread is under : http://forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=46725&start=1 I will work with overseas buyers. Also assist in loading with a transport. I need this car gone a few weeks after the car is paid for. I'm moving in 45 days.
