Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 2001 Ram 2500 equipped with the High Output Cummins and the coveted NV5600 manual transmission. 233,5XX miles. Not a 53 block, the VP44 is in great repair and is being fueled by an Airdog Raptor 95 GPH lift pump. No horsing around or use of chips. Everything is in excellent functional condition, unless otherwise noted below. Also equipped with Counter-Act Rust/Corrosion Prevention System - it gives the entire truck body a slight negative electrical charge, sacrificing electrons from the batteries to prevent oxidation of the chassis and body. Salt mining trucks are equipped with these units, and it doubles their service life on average. Google Counter-Act if you are curious about this pretty remarkable technology. This truck has been in the south for its entire life – it has only spent several months in Michigan (where I go to school), and that is why I purchased the rust prevention system. Only reason I am selling the truck is because I am needing the funds for school. The Good: - hasn't had the intestines pulled out of it, unlike most of the 6 speeds that you will find! I use this as my daily driver and to haul horses on the weekend. No blow by, doesn't run hot. -285/75/R16 Federal Couragia mud tires that have exceptional street manners and treadwear. Only mounted for about 9,000 miles. LOTS of tread left. 2.5 inch leveling kit professionally installed by Geno's in Booneville. Had them inspect the front end, and it passed with flying colors. Tracks perfectly down the highway. No pulling, very little slop in the steering wheel (only a few degrees). -Ranch Hand Bullnose Front Bumper -Nice, deep UWS toolbox -Westin Running Boards - Both batteries are only several months old - BHAF (Big Honking Air Filter) installed; more power and fuel economy, lots of air flow. I have an extra BHAF new in the box, ready to go. You will have another 140-150k miles of air filter life between the two. -Airdog Raptor RP100 lift pump. Previous owner was running the stock block mounted lift pump, but had a pressure tee-fitting installed to moniter fuel delivery to the VP. VP44 has been babied its entire life. I put the aftermarket lift pump on to ensure adequate fuel supply to the VP44 for cooling/lubrication. - Vulcan Performance Draw Straw V High Flow Fuel module installed, cost $380 Rotella 5W40 Full Synthetic Engine Oil has been run in this truck. within about 5-600 miles of next oil change. Power steering pump had a minor leak, so I went ahead and installed a brand new PS pump. There are currently no leaks on the truck. - All fluids have been changed within the last 7,000 miles on this truck - I cracked the front and rear diff's, the tranny, the t-case, coolant, EVERYTHING has been changed - all filters, serpentine belt, etc. Running Synchromesh in the NV5600 - great stuff, and keeps that 6 speed shifting like butter! truck gets about 18 mpg mixed city/highway. Got 20.7 mpg running 74-75 on the interstate roughly two weeks ago. I have been running 2 cycle engine oil in the diesel fuel to increase fuel lubricity for the fuel pump. Got a best ever of 21.3 mpg's @ 65 mph running the stuff. I have several quarts that I am throwing in, plus extra coolant/engine oil/etc. Dana 60 in the front with the Posi-Lok. No hubs to burn out! Dana 80 in the rear, 3.70 gearing if I remember correctly. About 1950 rpm @ 70 mph. - A/C blows cold, heat blows nice and warm. has heated power towing mirrors. Truck is the Laramie SLT option; has all of the luxury/auto options available except for leather seats (cruise control, power locks, power windows, heated power mirrors, etc The Bad: - the wiper park relay needs to be replaced - the wipers will stop whenever you turn them off, instead of returning to the park position. I have never even bothered to fix this.- had a girl who was learning to drive a stick hop a curb and bump into a building while trying to park. $280 in damage done to window fascia, left a small dent on the right side of the bumper on the truck. I ended up getting the Ranch Hand because of this. That is why there is an accident listed on the history report. - The blower motor works fine - you get plenty of air out of the vents - but it will occasionally rattle a little at low fan speeds. - the wiring pigtail to the fuel module sending unit was stretched a bit during the Vulcan Draw Straw V installation, which has led to the fuel tank having occasionally unreliable readings. The wire to the sending unit simply needs to be put back in place and secured. -4wd light doesn't always light up, can take some wiggling. I think that it is the switch that is supposed to be tripped in the vacuum powered 4wd actuator that is causing the problem. The Ugly: -the truck has your typical paint nicks and little dings scattered hither and yon. Refer to the pictures to get an idea of the condition that it is in. has a small dent on the rear of the driver's side cab. Dashboard is pretty cracked up. I have a dash cover on it.
