Vehicle Detail
1979 Ranchero 500 in good condition It’s finally time to let my 1979 Ranchero go to a new owner who can care for it like it deserves. This was the last production year for the Ranchero, and this body style with stacked rectangular headlamps is among the most popular among collectors. I have owned it for almost ten years and it has provided reliable transportation through those years, while serving as my pickup truck when needed. But I’m getting too old to work on my car myself, and without that pleasure, I no longer need a classic car. Starts, runs, and drives perfectly. Pacer custom alloy wheels. 5.8 L V8 engine Automatic transmission Power steering Power brakes Power windows Very nice Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires, Flowmaster dual exhaust. Since I have owned it: New vinyl top Right side paint (after my neighbor backed into the right quarter panel) New radiator Carburetor rebuild. New heater core What’s wrong: Body filler cracking behind driver’s door. Minor mars in paint on left side and hood. Minor rust spots on front bumper. Taillight surrounds have pitting. Rear bumper has light rust. Turn signals do not flash, although the 4-way flashers work perfectly (the turn signals utilize a separate flasher. Bad flasher?). Air conditioner blows cold air, but not as cold as in the past (charge?). AC and heat only blow from defrost vents. Headlights go off and back on occasionally (act like they are on a faulty circuit breaker) Right window does not work. Left window will operate for a second or two, then takes 15 to 30 minutes to operate again (like it is on a faulty circuit breaker) Dash pad needs repair. Leather upholstery is splitting on the driver’s seat. Seat belts were replaced, but the driver’s belt retractor will not release (original seat belts are included).
