Up for auction is my fathers car that he drove in his college years. The car was completely redone back in the 60's and is now in need of a restoration. The car is a 1953 Mayfair coupe hard top (Vehicle Number: 2677) with a Packard 327 Thunderbolt straight 8 engine. It has many common and uncommon modifications from back in the 60's including conversion to a manual transmission (3 speed and reverse), headlight chrome likely from a '54, and rear fenders/tail lights likely from a '51-52. The only thing missing is the carpet in the front and the spare tire. Keys for ignition and trunk are functional. I have no experience in restoring cars but I've been told by those who do that this car is solid and worth saving. With that said, it needs a full restoration in order to get it into showroom condition. My father stated that the car was running when it was parked in his garage about 20 years ago - it hasn't been run since. Odometer says 07,757 but it's really 107,757. Front windshield has small chip and a crack down the center, the driver side window has small crack in lower corner, and the glass of the passenger side mirror is missing. The tires on the car are modern tires and leak air but they work just fine for rolling the car in and out of the garage. The front bench seat was removed in order to get the carpet out to assess the condition of the floors. The front bench seat has small tear on passenger side and a small section on the driver side is separating at the seam (red leather). I've been told that the dash, steering wheel and head liner are in excellent condition. Although they are not included in this auction; an identical spare 327 motor with automatic transmission is available if interested, along with matching external engine parts. Two pieces of what appear to be rear window glass are also available. Please feel free to contact me with questions or requests for more photos.
