1996 BMW 840ci - 65k miles - Las Vegas Car, 2 owner, incredible condition! 1996 BMW 840ci Vehicle Condition: I am reluctantly selling my BMW 840ci. It has been an incredible car, but everything an enthusiast would do to one of these has been done… so as sad as it sounds, I am bored now. The car is by far one of the cleanest 8 series I have ever seen, both inside and out. These are weird cars, as it seems most people that own them skimp on the maintenance and upkeep, let the interior go, etc… or put some really bad looking wheels with the wrong offset on :-) This car is obviously not my daily driver, and can usually be found sitting in my warehouse along with a few other stablemates. If you are really into these cars, this is one of those rare moments to grab a non-rusted, very stock, mint 8 series. Vehicle Exterior: The paint is a proper repaint, with all moldings, seals, etc. removed. These cars had that mid-nineties environmentally friendly paint that ends up cracking or "checking" over the years. The paint shines like the day it was delivered, and is very deep with no swirl marks, as I am meticulous about cleaning black cars properly. The doors and trunk all shut with very minimal effort, all lights work properly. The tires are the Hankook Ventus V12 tires, and have less than 2000 miles on them. This vehicle has no rust on it, as it has been a Nevada car its whole life, obviously sitting in covered parking or garages. The trim all looks new, and has no "sun fading" of any kind. The wheels are from an e38, so they are genuine BMW wheels, with the proper offset, and hub diameter. I have H&R 10mm spacers up front to help widen the track which was always pushed in a bit too much on the e31's. The spare is also genuine, and has a new tire of the same model as the rest of the car. The front grilles have been gold plated by the first owner, and I have also bought a new set of grills which I will supply with the vehicle. I was not ever able to work up the courage to take off that front nose piece! Vehicle Interior: The vehicle interior is in as close to new condition as I have seen. The front seats look new, as do the back seats. There is some minor wear on the door pull of the doors, but nothing serious. The entire center stack, ashtray area, and storage compartment out back has been replaced with the black sport package pieces, as the car came with a very ugly light birds eye maple wood, which was in the process of delaminating. The car still has its original mirror, which cannot be changed out for a newer unit with home link, due to the alarm electronics being housed in there, mirror of course works fine. I also purchased the 3-spoke M-Tech steering wheel, but never got around to finding a single stage airbag from the e36 M3. You will get the steering wheel with the car, but the 4 spoke "bus" steering wheel which the car came with will be installed and fully functional. The windows (including entire front windshield) have been tinted with a clear UV rejecting tint which will help if the car is ever outdoors (which it never is!) - the tint cannot be noticed from the outside of the vehicle... and gives it that "classic" look, and lets folks enjoy the brand new looking interior! Vehicle Mechanicals: I already said it above, and will say it again... this is the cleanest e31 I have seen. The car runs excellent and has been driven occasionally since I acquired it, and we have not had any problems. Performance is excellent; it’s comfortable, dependable, and safe. The transmission shifts with no problems or unusual noises. The vehicle accelerates smoothly and sounds great, also no unusual noises. The engine does not ping or knock (new plugs, boots, and valve cover gaskets, and two of the four O2 sensors, 2,000 miles ago). Acceleration is strong, braking is great (New pads all around 2,000 miles ago), it just runs great overall. No known problems here other than a slight leak which is probably lower oil pan gasket or something common for the older BMW V8's.
