Vehicle Detail
I have owned this car for 2 years and driven it everyday problem free - I still drive it everyday to work 20 miles each way. Starts right up and drives fine. It needs no mechanical attention to drive at this time, but will require continuing maintenance since it is 30 years old. As far as I have been able to tell the mileage is accurate and it has never been in an accident. The air conditioning was converted to R134a about 2 years ago just after I bought it and it is still working fine. It has a new Die Hard battery just a few months old. In the last 3-4 years it has had a new radiator, water pump, brake master cylinder, and fuel pump. In the last two years I have replaced the exhaust from the catalytic converter back, replaced the rear brake rotors and pads, flushed and changed the brake fluid, complete tune up including distributor cap and rotor, plugs and wires, and "flame trap" (this car's equivalent of the PCV valve). The transmission overdrive was not working when I purchased the car and I have disabled it using an IPD kit for this purpose, basically the overdrive is always on. I keep the oil, filter, and air filter changed regularly. I have also replaced the rear hatch wiring and hinge on the driver's side which were worn when I purchased the car (a common problem on these wagons). It has Cooper tires which probably have 1-2 years left on them. I really enjoy driving and working on this car but I am selling for two reasons, 1) I am moving out of state and would like the car to stay in CA (also will be difficult for me to move it), and 2) maintaining this car is fine, but I would like to do more restoration on it which I don't have the time for. The car is in great shape and ready to drive everyday or an excellent candidate for restoration. It has no rust and the interior is in good shape. The rear seat is slightly stained, and there is a small crack in the driver's seat upholstery. The dashboard is cracked, I have kept it covered as shown in the pictures. The car was repainted several years before I bought it and the age of the paint job is starting show (there is some fading and chipping), I would repaint it in a couple of years if I were to keep the car. Things that I know are not working: cruise control; rear wiper/washer, rear defroster, glove box lock. The radio is old and it has the original factory speakers. Depending on your goals for this car it either needs nothing...it's ready to go, or if you want to restore it, the sky is the limit. The car is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if sold locally. A $500 deposit is due via PayPal or cash within 48 hours of the auction end or the sale will be cancelled and the car relisted. Full amount of the winning bid is due within 7 days of the auction end or the sale will be cancelled and the car relisted.
