Vehicle Detail
1996 LINCOLN TOWN CAR EXECUTIVE SERIES 102,000 ORIGINAL MILES! Up for auction is my 1996 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series automobile. This car has just 102,202 original carefully pampered adult driven miles. I purchased this vehicle when it came off of a 2 year lease in 1998. It had 30,590 miles on it. The car was driven by a corporate executive but was leased for him by his company as an “executive perk” which was very common in 1990’s. Therefore a Carfax will show as a corporate fleet vehicle as it was leased by the corporation and was therefore in the corporations name however, it was NOT a taxi or a rental car. The car, like most leases in the 90’s was sold at dealer auction at lease termination to the Lincoln dealer from which I purchased the vehicle. The dealership, Grecco Lincoln Mercury was one of the most reputable in Morris County New Jersey. In fact, Mr. Grecco himself came out and said hello to me the day I picked up the car and signed the papers! I had purchased another Lincoln from him prior. This car is ABSOLUTLEY GORGEOUS!!!! It is white with chrome trim and a black “carriage roof” which is in showroom pristine condition! The interior is black and the seats are RARE CLOTH finished in a beautiful charcoal and black tweed herringbone pattern! The pattern is much more subtle in person than the way it shows in the pictures. In the mid 1990’s Cadillac and Lincoln were moving away from cloth interiors and switching to all leather so there were just a rare few Town Cars and Deville’s made with cloth. For more than 10 years, you could not get a Lincoln or Cadillac with cloth seats until Cadillac brought it back on a stripped CTS only. I searched for MONTHS to find one with cloth and when I saw this on the lot, I bought it the next day! The pin striping is a special hand painted design and the artist signed his name on the trunk lid (see the included picture). I have received nothing but compliments on this car for the last 15 years! In fact, when I bring it in for dealer servicing the younger technicians marvel at it and always say it looks like it just rolled out of the showroom! I am a car guy and a total fanatic when it comes to my cars as I truly love American luxury cars from the 1990’s on back. Therefore, I have NEVER driven this car during the New Jersey winters with snow, salt and sand on the roads! Every fall I would lovingly wash the car, top off the gas tank, check the fluids and put the car away for the winter. It was started regularly to keep the fluids moving and the parts lubricated. Every spring usually in April when we had a day or 2 of good hard driving rain to clean the roads off I would take the car out, wash it again, have the oil changed and drive it a bit. The bulk of the mileage I put on this car was in the first 4 years as I used to drive back and forth from my office to a beach house I rented at the Jersey shore in the summer. They are all highway miles. By the summer of 2002 the car had 88,000 miles on it. This means I have only driven this car 14,000 miles in the last 11 years! I can even count the number of times someone sat in the back seat since I’ve owned it (3 times in 15 years to be exact)! If you know anything about these cars, 1996 is one of the best years ever made for Lincoln Town Cars. I have owned many Cadillac’s and Lincoln’s and I can honestly say this has been the MOST MAINTENANCE FREE car I ever had. Even the exhaust is original and in perfect condition! I just had the original rear brakes replaced about 2 year ago! The only “major repair” I had to do was replace the starter about 11 years ago! This car, with proper routine maintenance will easily go another 150, 000 miles with no trouble the dealer tells me as the engines on this particular year were one of the best! I have included 30 pictures of this vehicle so please take the time to look! There is NO WEAR or rips in ANY of the carpets or on the seats. There is just some very slight wear on the drivers floor mat where my heel rested by the accelerator pedal. When you view the pictures, you may see some white spots on the seats. It was a windy day and the trees were in bloom so this is merely particles that blew into the car from the trees as I was taking the pictures. Also, some of the white particles you see on the dash close-ups is merely dust. The car was stored for the winter and I did not detail it but yet it’s STILL in amazing condition. There are no cracks on the dash or arm rests! As you can see, the chrome shines as new! The engine, while a bit dusty is amazing with no corrosion as you can see! A list of options includes the following: Digital dash which is in miles but converts to kilometers Power 6 way seats for driver and passenger with manual recline lever Illuminated driver & passenger vanity mirrors with high/low setting Automatic trunk release with valet lock out Trunk lid power pull down Remote gas cap door release Power heated driver & passenger rear view mirrors Manual folding mirrors Automatic climate control Illuminated keyless entry pad Automatic door locks (doors lock when shifting into drive) AM/FM stereo with cassette tape deck (works perfectly) Automatic level ride (rear air shocks work perfectly) Tilt steering wheel Cruise control Delay wipers Master window lock Leather wrapped steering wheel (in perfect condition) Rear window defroster Steel alloy wheels Custom coach roof Trip computer (shows miles to empty, instant mileage, average mileage, average speed, 2 trip odometers, trip time remaining and amount of fuel remaining) Safety features include antilock brakes, driver and passenger airbags and factory security system with panic button. The car passed New Jersey inspection through July 2014. The Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires have 24,000 miles on them and are rated for between 60,000 and 70,000 miles. This car gets about 24 MPG highway if you run super in it and about 21 MPG on regular unleaded. Local mileage varies but is around 20MPG. Basically this “Executive Series” Town Car has everything a Signature Series would have with the exception of the compass, garage door opener built into the visor and the radio and climate control controls on the steering wheel! Sadly, there are 3 cosmetic defects on the car but the good news is they are all on the rear bumper. The bumpers on this car are plastic. The day after I bought the car, I went to the supermarket, parked the car away from other cars and when I came out, there was a shopping cart against the bumper. This caused a scratch. I was intending to have it touched up as it did not dent or crack the plastic but never got around to it but it’s been there since 1998. I included a picture of it but it looks much worse close up than standing 10 feet away. There is a similar scratch on the bumper a few inches away (same thing; a shopping cart) which has been there for about 10 years. Then there is some “spidering” on the paint on the top of the bumper in one spot. The bumper is NOT cracked, it’s only the paint. I have no idea how that happened as it just appeared there one spring when I took the car out of the garage. So the bumper can be repainted to correct it or you can leave it. The reason I am going into so much detail is that I have purchased a few cars off Ebay over the last 13 years and I have been lied to, mislead and even dealt with some actual criminals (which I found out after the fact) on every car but one. I would NEVER do this to someone else as 1) I have a conscience and 2) I am a car guy and liars and crooks spoil it for guys like me. You can LITERALLY get in this car and drive it from New Jersey to California without doing a thing to it! The reason I am selling this car is for two reasons. One, I just had to take disability retirement from my job and my income is now limited. As I have a few cars, I need to reduce my expenses and therefore, have to give up garage space I rent (otherwise I would keep it). Two, because of my disability my daily driver is an SUV because it has captain’s chairs and I have to sit up high and at a 90 degree angle to avoid severe back and hip pain therefore, I hardly ever drive this car (my other cars are antiques). In person inspections and test drives are always welcome. If you have any questions, please ask and I will respond to all and in timely fashion! European buyers are always welcome! As I live 45 minutes from Port Newark New Jersey where vehicles are shipped to Europe I will gladly deliver the car there! Also, I live about 40 minutes from the DAS terminal in Linden New Jersey and will gladly deliver the car there for shipping if you use that company! This will save money over a “door to door” pickup! I have every receipt for anything I have ever done to this car and it will be sent to the winning bidder. I even have the original window sticker! Of course, the operation book bound in beautiful leather will also go with the car as well as a set of remote entry keys and one set of regular keys. Now for the business end; I would like full payment within 7 days of auction end. I won’t make you pay within 48 or 72 hours thus forcing you to spend $23 on overnight mail like SOME people do. Payment must be by certified check, bank check (drawn on a U.S. bank), money order or cash in person. If you are a European buyer, a wire transfer will be accepted. The payment must be in U.S. dollars. I will send you the title as soon as payment clears my bank. I would like the car picked up within TWO WEEKS of you receiving the title unless other arrangements are made with me (I know some car shippers will delay pickup so I will work with you if that is a problem). I will consider extending a second chance offer to the highest bidder if the bidding is close to my reserve. I have sold 3 of my cars off Ebay in the past and it was a very pleasurable transaction for both parties so please bid with confidence and may God bless! On May-12-13 at 13:25:02 PDT, seller added the following information: One option I forgot to add is a lever on the dash to the left of the steering wheel (you can see it in the dash picture). This allows the driver to adjust the steering tension. There are 3 positions; loose, normal and tight. This is if you want a "floaty" feel on the road or tight steering like an SUV or just normal steering response for a full size luxury car of the day. As with everything else, it works perfectly. Also, Ebay's "vehicle history report" shows the car as having one owner. Technically this is true because the car was originally a lease and remained the property of Lincoln for the first 2 years. Therefore, legally, I AM the original owner of the car.
