Vehicle Detail
This is a lovely numbers-matching 1970 Chevrolet Corvette with the 350 cid 300 hp 380 ft.lbs torque 10.25 compression engine, 4-speed manual transmission, T-tops and power steering. The gauges, lights, radio, heater, fiber optics and wipers all work as they should, except the fuel-tank sensor needs replacing as it always reads full and the hands on the clock have stopped. The glass is all in excellent condition, including the removable rear window. The tires show lots of tread. The beauty rings are in excellent condition. The exterior paint shines and is in good condition: driver quality, with some minor chips and scratches (please see photos). The T-tops are in good condition, with vinyl covers. No rust issues, and the underside is clean. The front and rear chrome bumpers are dent free and shine like new. The interior carpet is new, the center console is very good, but the door panels are a bit worn. The seat covers have been replaced, and I also have a spare set of seat covers from a '71 which I'll include. Original owners manual included. This car is in excellent mechanical shape. The odometer reads 36,395 but has looped (only once I believe). I bought it in 1990. I don't have any paperwork on its history before then, but I have full receipts for everything since then. For years I commuted to work in my beloved red Corvette up a windy road through a National Forest here in Southern California, and I made sure everything was maintained in excellent running order. The engine, transmission, rear differential, front suspension, rear spring bushings and power steering were all rebuilt 50,000 miles ago, and the starter was replaced at that time. The rear suspension was upgraded to a single mono fiberglass leaf spring. The clutch was rebuilt 25,000 miles back. I believe everything was done professionally by Corvette specialists using original or refurbished parts. Fifteen years ago I decided I needed a car which was cheaper to run and less likely to attract speeding tickets. Since then it's been garaged, until last month when it was professionally serviced (fuel system flushed and fuel line cleaned, fuel pump and fuel filter replaced, carb rebuilt, complete brake job including two new calipers, new battery). It shows good oil pressure and runs cool. Shifts like it should and stops straight. No other maintenance is currently needed as far as I know, but being sold as is with no warranty. A beautiful fast driving car, just as I remember it. But now I need the money and I'm probably a bit too old for fast cars! Available for inspection by appointment in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, and I'm happy to answer any questions. PLEASE NO TIRE KICKERS: TOO OLD FOR THAT KIND OF NONSENSE. Vehicle sold as is, with no warranty. The reserve price is much less than the Buy It Now price. On May-18-13 at 10:28:02 PDT, seller added the following information: [05/18/13] Several people have asked if the car has been repainted. Yes. It was originally yellow, and was repainted red by a previous owner. You can see this in a few places. Probably the best example is on the driver side doorsill in the final photo of the listing.
