A striking black on red, true SS VIN 138 68 El Camino. This was the first year for SS El Caminos, 1 of only 5190 produced and they only came with 396 Big Blocks (hers is long gone), now powered by SBC 350. She’s an A/C car needing some components, has power steering and power drum brakes all around. A complete car, running and driving with most of its functioning equipment intact. Body, frame, bed and front compartment floors are good overall, does need some body attention, see notes and attached pics. Runs great, no smoke, funny noises, no leaks, starts every time. Electric toggled fan keeps her between 180 and 200. Very slight header gasket exhaust leak, might have it fixed before you pick it up Numbers matching TH400 Automatic shifts smooth and stock, very slight leak 12 bolt non posi CY 1103B 3:07 rear end, built Nov. 3rd, 1969 in Buffalo Throaty dual exhaust system, drops just behind the rear axle, in very good condition Most of the engine compartment is original and complete Power steering and drum brakes in good condition 15 X 8 Eagle Aluminum rims in exception condition with 225 70R 15 front, 275 60R 15 Tech 2000 tires (front 40% tread, should replace, rear are good with 85% tread) Body: Body, frame, front floors, bed, doors, rockers, roof, hood, and front window metal mounting area are OEM and in good shape. Areas needing attention; Rear window metal mounting area; has been repaired and painted, needs some stainless trim mounting attention. Stainless is very good. Behind the seat floor pans will need to be replaced or repaired Some rust on rear interior cabin panel needs to be addressed Bubbling areas in front of and behind rear wheels, see pics Slight bubbling at front passenger fender Some dings along the sides, see pics Doors are good, shut solid, hinges don’t give, driver door missing weatherstrip Hood is in great shape, it’s a beast, has OEM Cowl vents, tiny scratches in paint. Chrome hinges and hood release. Tailgate is stuck shut, mechanism works on both sides with handle but will not release. Cowl vent good, no rust Front window metal mount edges good Stainless is all there, a couple of dings on front and back bed panels All glass very good, driver quality Wiring harnesses, interior and engine compartment, look to be complete and OEM Front bumper and grill are very good, rear bumper is cracked, see pic Wipers, lights, directionals, brake lights, dome and dash work as they should Interior: Seat recently redone, dash pad and door panels are good Upper dash panel free of rust Dash is complete with the exception of the stereo, wiring is there for a nice sound system Fan switch and controls there, fan switch does not turn on fan, controls work Seat belts are functional Doors and glass are functional, lock and roll up/down Headliner is sagging, could be repaired, should be replaced Aftermarket steering wheel but also have original SS wheel that goes with the car Original key fits both ignition and doors This is truly an SS that can go all the way in your hands, find a period correct 396 and you’ve got 1 of just a handful to add to your collection.
