Vehicle Detail
Thank you for looking at our 1965 Corvair Convertible. This car presently starts and runs good. It only has approximately 72,000 actual miles. It is the more sought-after model with the dual carburetor 140 horsepower engine. Mechanically it still needs to be tinkered with a little bit, but it does run smoothly and sounds good. The clutch is to the top and so are the brakes with a new master cylinder. This car started to be restored and then was stopped, and we are not sure why. We purchased this from a guy, we got it running properly and put it into a bodyshop. For $2,000 he’s going to make the car look brand-new and rustproof the whole underneath of the car which is in great condition. We took it there 3 months ago and he has projects in front of this car. We don’t want the car sitting outside where something might happen to it so instead of fixing the body and selling it we are going to sell it just the way you see it. All of the chrome for the car, including the radio and convertible boot, wipers and any and all parts that are on the car are in the trunk. The bumper, which is in good shape, is inside of the car. There is a hubcap missing on the car, but we have a new one to go with it. The convertible top does have a rip, but it’s not horrifying and once the convertible is done, although most people use it with it down not up. The interior of this Corvair is in very good condition, the trunk is solid, the motor compartment is fine but it probably will need wires because the one presently on the vehicle are very old. When the car is finished it will be one beautiful and fast Corvair. We are selling this car as-is and no reserve, but you may come looks at it, start it and drive it anytime you’d like. We would like the car paid for within 3 days and picked up within a week. The payment methods can be cash or wire transfer only. We will have no problem helping you or helping your shipper pick it up, but we will not pay for any shipping costs. If you have any questions about the car call Lou at 216-210-8488. Good luck to all bidders and thank you again for looking. On May-08-13 at 17:25:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Thank you for looking at my Corvair. According to the badge on the trunk lid it reads 140. I would seem to believe that it has a 140 horsepower motor, but the emails that I've been receiving from Corvair enthusiasts that know more than I do say that the engine that is presently in this car is a 110 horsepower engine. The car is 48 years old and it is possible that over the years the engine was exchanged out or the badge was added. I don't know and I don't want to steer anybody the wrong way. Use your best judgment and the car will still go to the last highest bidder when the auction has ended. Thank you very much for your patience. Good luck bidding.
