1950 Ford Custom Deluxe 2-Door Sedan Flathead V8 Engine Nicely Restored Great looking original Ford Custom Deluxe 41,609 miles I am selling this great old Ford for my friend’s father-in-law. He has owned the car for many years. He has several cars and two of his beauties must go. This is a great looking 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe 2-door Sedan. The car has the rare 239 cubic inch flathead ford V8, which runs great. This Ford is well maintainted and runs and drives very well. The restoration was nicely done, with a great attention to detail. It has excellent chrome and trim…all the details well done. The car was restored keeping it’s original parts as much as possible. This is a period correct car, a real time capsule. The car has current registration and a clear Texas title - in the sellers name. He has won several awards at shows throughout Texas with this 1950 Ford. Below is some history on the 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe: Custom Deluxe History: The Ford 1950 Custom Deluxe was a derivation of the design styling of George Walter, commonly known as the 'Cellini of Chrome.' Walter was known for his streamline design concepts that would evolve into the elegant designs found on the Ford cars during the late 1940s. The designs of 1949 were carried over to the 1950 and 1951 models with minor updates. The Custom Deluxe V8 series came equipped with two sun visors, additional chrome accents, and armrests as standard equipment. From claimed '50 improvements for '50' in their advertising but most of these changes were minor. Ford was on the ropes following World War II. Losses were mounting and Ford needed a winner. The new Ford cost the company $72 million in investment and 10 million man hours, but by the end of 1949 it had earned the company $177 million in profit and had outsold Chevrolet by 100,000 vehicles. A record 28.2 million people checked out the new Ford in dealer showrooms over the first three days of its announcement. The Custom Deluxe series featured the top trim level for Ford, including chrome window trim, chrome horn ring, two sun visors, armrests on all doors and chrome strips along the lower half of the body. Base price of the Custom Deluxe convertible was $1,950 without options. Power was supplied by Ford's 239 cubic-inch V8 engine that produced 100 horsepower. A manual three-speed transmission was standard and overdrive was optional in 1949 until Ford began offering new designs. They featured simple lines that were clean and well integrated into the body. In the front was a dramatic and artful bullet nosed grille. This car is better than money in any bank account and will appreciate in value as the years go on. It would be very hard to find another car of this caliber for the price we are letting it go for, good luck bidding. Be sure to see my other auctions, as he has another 1952 Ford for sale.
