Vehicle Detail
***Please read the entire ad before bidding*** Up for auction is a '99 Chevy Astro AWD van with just under 100K miles. I am the second owner and have had this van for a little more than a year. It was my daily driver to and from work during that time. It was a fleet vehicle and maintained professionally previously. In the short time I've owned it I have replaced the battery, alternator and replaced the vacuum line that operates the pneumatic solenoid that changes the direction of the HVAC airflow (common problem with these). Everything works on the van including the air conditioning with the exception on the ABS. Another negative characteristic with these vans is the ABS system. I have read that the sensors are part of the hubs and are prone to failure. When I purchased the van, the ABS would operate (controller IS operational) almost every time the brakes were applied. I did a little research online and found that the simple fix for this is to remove the 60A ABS fuse. Doing so lights the ABS light in the gauge cluster and allows the braking system to operate the way it would in a non-ABS type of vehicle. I purchased this and formed an LLC planning to open a small handyman company (this van would be perfect). A different job has taken me in a different direction and has not left me with the time needed to do this. There is a considerable amount of rust in the driver's side entry area (floorboard area pictured), but is solid. There was vinyl lettering on three of the doors with a business name that was poorly removed. I can't see it in the pictures, but there are scatches through the clear coat and gray marks where they were, but do not stand out. The paint is still intact. There are dents, scratches and other areas of minor rust, but overall this van is in very good condition and has never let me down. I will include the rusty steel wheels with near bald tires and metal hubcaps that came with it if you want them. I parted out a '94 Astro shortly after buying this one and have many parts that I kept, but some may not be compatible. The purchaser should inquire at auction end if they are interested in any spare parts I may have...cheap. Anyway, the AL wheels and tires came from that van and really dress it up. The original side slider hardware from this van was in rough shape and I replaced it with hardware from the donor van. What does this mean to you? When the door is in the fully open, latched, rear-ward position, you have to reach down near the mechanism to release the door. Much like a hood release. It's not a big deal to me, but notable. Feel free to contact me and check it out. No warranty implied, but I will refund your money if you are the winning bidder and are not pleased with what you see. You won't be disappointed. I took a short video of its rapid acceleration and straight braking and is available upon request. I'll put it on YouTube as I've done with ads in the past, but I don't think eBay allows pasting of links anymore. Maybe I'll try to after the fact. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTZfyOtnNocOn Apr-20-13 at 12:23:06 PDT, seller added the following information: When checking out the van more carefully this morning to answer a question, I found that the bottom side of the driver's rocker is rusted through. The top part of the step on the inside is currently solid with 200# directly on it. Please read the answers to the questions below and thank you for looking!
