1971 Toyota FJ40 Custom build, 1971 FJ body on 1981 Toyota Hilux frame.3" spring lift on Toyota axles. Vented slotted front brakes, 28gal Fuel cell, Painless wiring harness, LED front and rear lights, Autometer guages, B&M shifter, Chevrolet 350 small block, 700R4 Transmission with Corvet servos, NP-208 T-case, Dual exhaust, Hugger headers,Holley carb and many other additions. The stock steering coulmn from the Hilux Toyota was installed and has the switches and signal selector. The Hilux Vacume brake booster is in place on the Fj fire wall. This truck was a project to make a more user friendly FJ, I made the body long enough to accept a standard Jeep fold and tumble rear seat and still have tons of leg room both front and back. The suspension is a Rough Country 3" spring lift with the good shocks. It is really flexible and feels great on the road. The side sliders and bumpers were custom built and are fit to the body and rubber coated. The entire frame was sanded and ground down smooth and rubber coating applied, All mounts and cross-members replaced and or fabricated out of quality components. The body was lengthened using tubing and 16ga sheet metal. All of the normal rust spots on the FJ, ( rear corners, door kick panels) were cut out and 16ga metal used to repair. Custom drive lines were fabricated by a machine shop and installed to mate the NP208 to the stock Toyota axles. The Fuel cell is 1/4" Aluminum and is baffled and vented for off angle driving. All new brake lines are installed. The engine runs well and has a Holley carb on a stock manifold. The factory serpentine belt runs a stock Chevy alternator, stock Chevy powers teering pump and it still has the AC Compressor in place. The Power steering pump was left in due to the future addition of power steering. The Toyota Hilux currently has the manual steering gear box installed but E-bay sells the Power steering pump as well as the hose kit to adapt the Toyota gear box to Chevy pump( was the next thing on the list).! Their is a dual core aluminum radiator with 12" flex fan. The seating is bucket seats with 4 point harness.It has old school ARE rims (15X10) and 33/12.5/15's on it now. The tires are old but have plent of tread and still hold air. The Battery is relocated to the rear driver side of the vehicle. It is in a compartment built into the wheel well in the back corner. The Fj is set up to be flat towed, I have a tow bar that bolts to the front bumper. The wiring harness has a tow plug integrated into it and is stowed on the drivers side inner fender. It is a flat 4 prong plug and all the lights work from the towing vehicle. There is a master power kill switch located on the inner firewall near the passengers left leg. I purchased this FJ in Florida two years ago and towed it from Florida to Texas, I then moved from Texas to Nevada and then last year made the move from Nevada to Wyoming. I have pulled this truck over 4500mi and I can say that it pulls like a dream. I drop the drive lines to tow it and it is light enough that it tracks right along. The odometer has less than 1000mi on it but like I said I have drug this thing all over the US! I am selling this due to not wanting to move it again!
