I have here a Mechanics Special, this 1997 Honda GL1500 SE replaced our 1994 two years ago that had lost forth gear on the trip we where on. Now this bike has a motor noise that no one can figure it out. Being some what of a mechanic it sounds like a timing chain slapping noise. YES I know it dose not have one. It just sounds like that. As you can see most of the plastic is all ready off of the bike. I did not see a need to put it all back on if you are the person that is going to take back off. The bike has been to one great mechanic that has over 30 years experience mostly on GoldWings. It has been to others as well and they all side the same thing, We will not know until we get the motor out and rip into it to see what is causing the noise. I am not going to spend that kind of money on this one when I can put that money to another bike. The bike dose run, if you take the bike pass 1200RPM the noise will go away. but the more we run the bike the louder it is getting. There are some thing on the bike that does not work one is the cassette player and the clock has a mind of its own. It has 57,700 miles on it and it is a dark blue. All SE Gold Wings are the top of the line for the 1500 and all SE come with Reverse, CB, Cruise Intercom and ajustable pasenger foot rest.
