A very rare and collectable 1966 Triumph Model 6T Thunderbird. This is the last production of the famous Thunderbird model. I purchased the bike years ago to do a complete restoration and never got to it. Was said to be running at the time, but went into storage. Had been converted to 12 v. electronic ignition but I tried a fresh battery and could not get a spark. I did do a compression check and both cylinders had 100 psi, which isn't bad for having been in storage. Gears shift smoothly while rotating rear tire with bike on center stand. No broken fins on head or cylinder and no damage above the drive sprocket. Has correct original Dunlop rims which could be rechromed, has new K70 on rear and a fairly good Dunlop TT100 on the front. Nacelle is in very good condition. Has the correct Smiths SSM5002/00 speedometer which is either NOS or rebuilt showing zero miles. Has the correct Thunderbird left side cover. The frame has black powdercoat. I replaced the front fender with a correct original Part No. H1677 from a 1965 bike, hence the wrong color. Felt the bike would be repainted anyhow and I do have two old cans of the correct Grenadier Red and Alaskan White that will go with the bike in case they are still good. The seat is an original Triumph in pretty good condition for its age. Nice to see what the original material and mounting method was like. Not all of the headlight, taillight, etc. wires are connected, but I just didn't bother since my intent had been for a full restoration. Most engine nuts, screws seem to be original, but most of the fender and other fasteners have been replaced with new hardware. Bike does come with a clear Texas title and of course does have matching engine and frame numbers, 6T DU25926. Please ask any questions and I will be glad to check it out and respond.
