Vehicle Detail

Find myself having to sell my pride and joy. This is a 1929 Ford Model A roadster that has been a love of mine being that it is a re-creation based upon personal recollections and historical photos of a late 1930s Dry lakes racing car/hot rod. I had met an older gentleman years ago, and after befriending him since he was a surviving member of an original SCTA hot rodding club, I wanted to build "my" first roadster as an homage to him by re-creating "his" first roadster, as my first roadster! This I did. From the C crank in the 4 banger engine, to the replica Winfield aluminum high compression head, etc. The original was stripped to the bare metal, but upon asking my friend and fellow old time hot rodder "what" exactly he "would have" painted it if he had the time, and money back then, his answer was, "Well, I suppose a shade of red, maybe a dark red.." Thus the color it was painted. it was also painted as it would have been back then in the late 1930s if a friend had a compressor and spray gun,... in a old 1920s garage, with a simple spray gun. Passenger side door is fixed shut, no door handle on that one. No, I will not give out the personal info on who this fellow was, unless you are the winning bidder, so please do not ask. I have placed a modest reserve which reflects much of what I have in it to begin with. Here's the details: Rebuilt 4 banger ford engine. (only has 50 miles on it because I took it off the road to paint it a few yrs ago and didn't run it much as I found less and less time for it, sadly. Rebuilt by "Red's Machining" in Delaware.) "C" crank installed New A cam with a speed grind installed New pistons, lifters, gaskets, Rings, etc. etc. Replica Aluminum Winfield high compression head Replica Winfield balancer pulley Model B distributor Cloth covered spark wires with Rajo ends Winfield Carburetor (Model B) Rebuilt A transmission with modified guts (so no double clutching) High speed gears in the rear, (which was also completely rebuilt) Rebuilt 30-31 steering box '32 heavy front axle Rebuilt mechanical brakes New wiring Rebuilt Model B generator New Bias ply tires on '34 ford wire wheels (tires approx. 2 yrs old) Custom traditional headlight bar (no the original car that i based this on did not run headlights, it was for racing, or at least I don't recall photos of headlights on it that I ever saw.) Interior seat springs with blanket as covers on it, no finished interior Paint is not perfect, has some chips and imperfections... ....Basically, everything from front to back was rebuilt using either NOS, good used original parts or replaced with good quality (American made when possible) reproduction parts. Yes, it has a clear title. **(The photos you see of the "parts" are just to show you that this was really built from the ground up,...those parts are now all on the car. THEY ARE NOT EXTRA PARTS!! They are ON the car!)** **Runs and drives, but the front wishbone should be worked on as even though this is the way the original was built, using the '32 front axle with a stock Model A wishbone gives the front spring a little twist/torque to itself. Easily fixable/modify-able. Also, needs glass for the windshield (just a piece of plexi was tossed in till painting was done, but never got around to installing glass) This isn't just some car, or hot rod,.. and Lord knows it isn't a "rat rod!" This is a recreated piece of history, as close as possible to the original, as I worked from both this man's personal recollections (which 99.9% of the time were crystal clear!) and by copies of original photographs of the car and engine compartment. **(The ONLY thing that will be taken off of the car, and NOT included, are the exhaust pipes. They have very personal importance to myself, it's a long story, but they are easily replicated or you can make up whatever you wish to replace them!! IF that's an issue, or if you're to uncreative or talented to replace them yourself or have another do it for you, please do not bid. Please save us both the aggravation!)** This car is being sold on an "As-Is" basis with no warranty on the car or its parts. There are no issues or problems with the car that I know of (past the "possible" issue of the font wishbone torquing the front spring and the need for windshield glass as stated already.) What you see is what you get. If that is a problem, as stated before again, PLEASE do not bid on it, I will not change the details or conditions, etc. All sales are FINAL. No buyer's remorse, etc. I cannot deliver it, I cannot "set up" shipping with this or that. That's all the buyer's responsibility. I recommend coming and picking it up yourself, (on a flatbed, or what ever you'd prefer?) or having it hauled professionally by the shipper of your choice. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, I'll be more than happy to answer them to the best of my ability, in a timely manner. If you need more photos, just ask and I will try and get them on for you asap. All sales final, sold on an as-is basis, half of total amount due in 3 days, with the balance due within 7 days of close of auction. Payments made by a cashier's check from a certified back or by cash. NO personal checks will be accepted. Do not assume you can just show up or email me to tell me you're bringing or sending a personal check. Thank you for your interest in my auction. At the time of this build a suitable original Ford body could not be found in reasonable shape, so after much searching, a Brookville was decided upon.)***On Mar-16-13 at 08:15:38 PDT, seller added the following information:
