1981 Fiat X1/9 by Bertone THE CAR:  1981 Fiat X1/9 for restoration. Not a 1980; it's a 1981, VIN ZFABSAA02B8141305, which of course, ebay didn't like...sigh...so I had to list it as a 1980. Again, it is an '81. Body is straight but rusty. Interior nice except for driver's seat and missing carpet. Mechanically mostly complete, looks like the previous owner was working in the engine bay on the FI system as many of the Bosch L-Jet plugs are unplugged and labeled. A couple of the FI components appear to be missing (AFM, FP, main hose, etc.), so it may be that the previous owner may have been starting a conversion to carburetors - a popular and easy conversion to complete. For this reason, the engine does NOT start or run, but it does turn over fairly well. Transmission goes into and out of all gears. That's all I've done with it and all that I know about the mechanical condition of the car. To be safe, assume it will need everything. Interior had at one point been redone expensively and in a custom manner with a very nice grey cloth-and-black scheme that has held up well on all but the driver's seat. The passenger seat, the door panels, and even the targa top lining still look great. Needs carpet. All switches, gauges, etc. intact. If you're a body guy, or have a good one available to you, this car is for you. I am already overwhelmed with X1/9s and parts and would hate to simply part out another one as complete and full of promise as this one, so I'm hoping to find someone to give it a second chance. I'm including with your purchase all the parts shown in the photos that, were I greedy, I should swap out (original Fiat aluminum wheels, nice targa top, mirrors, headlight motors, etc.) and keep for myself. Again, I'm NOT doing that, so what you see in the images goes with the Exxy, essentially just as I got it from the previous owner. I wish this to be a good basis for someone out there that can work with the car to restore it. I can also possibly deliver, but please inquire prior to auction's end if you're counting on that so we can work something out that you're satisfied with. In person pick-up is welcomed on any item, especially larger/heavier items, where pickup may be an absolute requirement. Otherwise, buyers will be responsible for shipping costs, and items will be shipped via United States Postal Service within one or two days once payment is received. We are willing to work with you should you need to hire such a carrier (scheduling, meeting, helping load, etc.) but all such arrangements are solely the buyer's (your) responsibility.
