Vehicle Detail
If you have been looking for a 55 2dr. that is extremely solid then this might be the car for you. Previous owner had car from 1967 till 2012. It had been park in his garage since 1993 until i purchased it in 2012. It was daily driven from 1967 until about 1978 when he purchased a new 1978 ford f250 and then the car only got driven every now and then. His f250 was stolen in the winter of 1992 so he fired up the 55 and drove it for the winter until he replace the f250. After that the 55 was park in the garage ever since with no usage. He only fired it up about once a year. And never really drove it more than around the block. About 5 years ago he quit doing that. So it just sat. I cleaned fuel tank and replace fuel sending unit. Brake were still working. It fired right up. I have never even washed the car since i picked it up from previous owners garage. It was sitting with a cover on it in the condition you see in the pics(truely amazing to me.) He installed the straight axle in 1970 and drove it back east a coupe of times for work. The car is about the most solid 55 i have ever seen. Little to no rust , the rust is pointed out in pics. All spots of rust are wear factory lead is between panels and one bubble on right quarter in front of tire. Rockers ,floor ,trunk appear to be rust free. Car was repainted in 1974 factory colors, (ok job but old paint and not to be confused with a restoration,) Factory frame is NOT cut up at all. Stock front suspension could bolt back in if thats your thing. Axle conversion is nice and rides very good. 1965 chevy van axle. Shag carpet was installed in 1974 with paint job and it is still in good shape, No funky smell or anything!!! lol. Car has some dings in side stainless but otherwise very nice. All factory undercoat is still in place under car and previous owner said front clip has never even been taken off car for any reason.true survivor! Motor is a 283, fire rite up no real smoke or noises, carb is a holley 2bbl. It has no choke so it takes a bit to warm up. Headers, corvette num staggered bolt valve covers. fueler heads, motor revs quick but i would say it is mild or near stock. Trans is a cast iron powerglide, seems to work fine but will leave a a bit of oil behind when it is driven. Bad seals for sitting.(my guess) Rearend gears feel tall. Dont no ratio, one tire fire. Wheels and tires Tires are GOODYEAR bias ply tires with nearly 100% tread and believe it or not they still ride ok. But they are bias so they catch every rut in the road. Wheels are craigers, some pitting and flaking of the chrome. There are loose parts in the trunk that go with the car. such as.... stock radio, factory clock, new taillight lenses, generator and car cover. and some other small parts. Lights and blinkers work, dash and dome light work. Windows roll up and down. Glass is in great condition for it age. Interior is old front seat has hole in drivers side, looks like the vynl has been painted at one time. Headliner is great, Back seat and door panels are good THIS CAR WAS BUILT BACK IN THE DAY TO HAVE THE GASSER LOOK BUT THE OWNER BUILDER OF 44YEARS DIDNT HAVE THE NEED FOR SPEED AND NEVER PUT A SERIOUS POWER PLANT IN THE CAR. THAT IS WHY IT HAS STAYED IN SUCH GOOD SHAPE. I DONT THINK THAT THERE IS ONE EXRTA HOLE IN THE FIRE WALL THAT DIDNT COME FROM THE FACTORY. FIREWALL IS ORIGINAL PAINT AND STILL HAS THE FACTORY GREASE PEN WRITING ON IT FROM THE ASSEMBLY LINE. IF YOU WANT A RESTORED CAR THAT IS FLAWLESS PLEASE DONT BID ON THIS CAR. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A VINTAGE THROW BACK CAR THAT PEOPLE WILL LOVE THAT IT IS NOT RESTORED THAN THIS MIGHT BE YOUR CAR. CLEAR WASHINGTON TITLE .
