Vehicle Detail
We all piled into the big green dodge for a trip to the country. A happy go lucky fellow had agreed to sell us his car collection and we were more than happy to oblige him. It's a rare day I can pull my partner Chatman from the city, but the allure of automotive gold drew him out of his shell. Soon the cityscape turned to countryside and there were more cows than people, so we knew we were getting close. We were greeted by yapping dogs and a surly looking fellow that was the brother of Mr. Happy Go Lucky. Well, never judge a book by its cover and the grizzly dude was as friendly as they come and more than helpful in getting the cars out of the barn and onto the tow truck. This Coronet has been sequestered to the barn since 1981. The original paint is faded to an almost translucent state. White exterior with blue interior and top is indeed an attractive combination. This is a very unusual set up in that it's a slant 6 engine and a 3 on the tree transmission. I couldn't even find the production number of this combination. The body is straight and rust is to a minimum. There is some daylight shining through the very bottom of the rear quarters. The floors and trunk are quite solid. I made a new saying to describe the interior, "It's potato chipped," meaning the seat material was reduced to mere chip size pieces. The top material is all but non existent. We tried to give this guy away but now it's running. The tires hold air. The brakes are pumping up. It goes into gear and I've taken time to photograph each floor pan and none will need complete replacement. The top pumps whine but don't move the top. The top is now folded back into place. The front piece of the top that rests on the windshield will need work or replacement. The dash lights up. This is an unusual Mopar. It deserves an engine and trans that will make it a ground pounder. I think it looks very cool in its current state and a kicking wheel set would make this beauty a crowd pleaser. It's a tough car for a tough crowd. We've had a few guys on the fence so please make sure you know what you want before bidding. As usual we will find the cheapest shipping and get this bad boy delivered to your garage. Just tell me you've got a 383 and a 4 speed waiting...
