Vehicle Detail

I am moving and unfortunately have decided that it is time for my Datsun to find a new home. Up for sale is a 1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo. It is in exceptional condition compared to other ZXs of its era and it took me a year and a half of looking before I found this specific one amongst all of the poorer ones for sale. If you are looking for a Z of this era then like me this is the one you are looking for; all original, exceptionally straight body, very clean interior, not modified, etc. It runs beautifully, starts right up, purrs smoothly at idle, shifts through the gears cleanly and the turbo really pulls. As with any 30 year old car it does have its quirks and items that need attention. Following I will list in detail all the good and bad that I know about so there are no surprises if you decide to purchase the car. This would make a wonderful simple project car with fun and easy projects here and there without having to get into a full restoration. The body is in exceptional condition and has the original paint, there are a few minor dings but very few. It has never been smoked in and has a nice clean interior. I purchased the vehicle in Denver from the second owner and it was purchased new here in Boulder, Colorado and I have the original window sticker shown in the picture listing. I'll list some details below: Details:- 1983 Datsun 280ZX Turbo- 5 speed manual transmission- 2 seater coupe (not 2+2)- T-tops- Fully loaded with all options from the dealer- Power everything- Original wheels in great condition with good tires- Stock condition -- no ridiculous modifications- Interior in excellent condition; seats are in great shape but there are some coffee stains on the carpet- Always garaged or covered (comes with a top of the line custom fit cover)- Lots of spare parts; engine, interior, T-top, etc. (please ask if you would like more exact detail on the whole list of extra parts that come with)- Original documents with lots of receipts, manual, parts catalogue, etc.- Fully ensured and currently titled with up to date emissions- Original T-Top bags for storage in the rear hatch- New battery- On-board diagnostic check still functions and the automatic voice warning system still talks to you- Power windows, power side mirrors, heated side mirrors New Parts:- Custom top of the line car cover from Motorsportauto.com- New rear hatch lift cylinders, hatch lifts perfectly on its own to full open- New custom dash cap from Black Dragon automotive (not yet installed)Some items that need attention/repair so there are no surprises;- windshield washer does not spray- headlight washer does not spray- cruise control does not operate- climate control system was disconnected by a previous owner- rust in spare tire well and above windshield frame- reverse lights appear to have an electrical short and don't operate properly- passenger side is missing T-Top shade- drivers side is missing the A-pillar trim- drivers side door panel is missing arm rest- the original radio is not in the car and no radio is provided, it does have the power antenna option but it is not hooked up Please see the pictures and please feel free to contact me with any questions or if you would like specific pictures of anything. Thanks for your interest and I hope you like what you see!On Feb-13-13 at 08:03:20 PST, seller added the following information: Additional Notes: The car is sold as is and has no warranty or guarantees beyond thorough disclosure of all known issues in good faith. Car is currently up for local sale and could be sold before the auction is complete. On Feb-14-13 at 11:01:33 PST, seller added the following information: Additional Notes: I've received a few questions and wanted to add a few extra notes regarding these questions. Transmission:The transmission is the stock 5 speed manual, it shifts cleaning through the gears. There is a slight hesitation with the synchro into second but it is very minor, nothing I've been concerned about in the least. All indications point towards it being the original transmission and I can't see why it ever would have been changed. Rear Differential:The rear differential is the stock original turbo rear end. They put larger and stronger rear differentials in the turbo models and this is that diff. Again it appears to be original and never removed, again no indication that it has ever had issue or bean worked on and has no issues. Cylinder Head:The cylinder head is the stock and original P90 Turbo head. It is in good operating order and doesn't appear to have been altered in anyway. I believe the head was removed at some point in the cars history, possibly to replace a head gasket, as some of the wiring going to various items on the head appear to have been re-spliced together. No issues with the head or its internals as the car runs great. Dash, Gauges & Console:The "digital dash" is fully functional and all the gauges work on it, even the visual diagnostic system that goes through a test of all the systems and identifies any errors. The oil pressure and temperature gauge and the turbo boost gauge work correctly however the digital clock at the end works intermittently but usually not, I have however seen the digital display come on. The other controls are as follows; turn signal stalk work, windshield wiper stalk works, headlight washer button doesn't work, cruise control doesn't work, climate control is intermittent, AC is not working, heated mirrors work, mirror controls work, automatic locks work, power windows work, interior lights work, map light works. That is all I can think of at the moment. On Feb-14-13 at 21:34:40 PST, seller added the following information: Additional notes: I've received a few more questions regarding the stance of the car and that it looks lower than other ZXs of the same model. This is an accurate observation and from my inspections on the car I do believe that it is lowered beyond the stock setup. I did not perform the lowering myself but I believe it to be about 1 inch lower than stock. The car sits level and is not sagging in the rear although it may appear this way in some of the photos this is an illusion. The car has aftermarket Tokico blue shocks, which are a lowering shock to my knowledge, the springs are black and impossible to identify what, if any, the aftermarket brand is. In my opinion the stance looks great and the lowering helps the handling significantly although the shocks could probably stand to be replaced before too long.On Feb-16-13 at 17:04:44 PST, seller added the following information: VIDEO ON YOUTUBE!!! http://youtu.be/zSFoZ6GA7jU Hi to all you bidders, thanks for the interest! I took a video today of the ZX starting it up cold with a walk around so you can hear the engine start up and how smoothly it runs. I also did a quick walk around to show the exterior in video rather than pictures.
