Vehicle Detail

Excellent project car Up for auction is a 1973 Volvo 1800ES sport wagon (two doors plus hatchback). Those of you familiar with this car know how rare it is. It was made in just two years, 1972 and 1973. Please note that this car is being sold AS IS, WHERE IT IS. I am a private seller, not a dealer. There are no warranties or guarantees, written or implied, with this sale. I will describe the car as best I can, but, like anyone else, I may forget some things. So please ask questions BEFORE you bid! (If you do have questions, send me a message. Because I recently moved some distance from the garage where the car is parked, if I need to look at it to answer a question, I will not be able to respond right away. I am planning to make a trip over there the day before the auction ends, so if you think I might need to look at the car to answer your question, please ask it before then.) Since I bought the car in 1998, I have kept it garaged. It runs but does have some issues. Most important, there is a considerable amount rust on the unibody undercarriage and also some on the rocker panels and a spot by one parking light (see photos). The inner and outer tie rods, idler arm, and center link should be replaced. There are some leaks in the fuel system. The oil temp gauge does not work; nor do the clock and radio (I replaced an under-dash CD player in 2001). The odometer, speedometer, and other gauges work fine. The lock on the hatchback door does not work (but amazingly, even when I have parked the car on the street in New York City, no one has ever stolen anything from it). The car has AC (not converted), but it has never been great at cooling the car while I've had it. Orange is the original color, but I believe it was repainted at some point. The paint has numerous small dings; the car could use a new paint job. The leather on the front seats is worn, and badly so on the driver's seat. (The leather on the backseat is fine.)The dashboard is cracked in several places. Headliner is good. I have made repairs necessary to keep the car running but have not made any significant improvements, aside from the addition of a pusher fan to cool off the radiator. NOTE: IF YOU ARE THE WINNING BIDDER, YOU WILL NEED TO PICK UP THE CAR NO LATER THAN FEBRUARY 28, 2013. If that is not possible, but you really want the car, please contact me before bidding so we can try to work something out. The car is for sale to bidders in the United States only. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours after the auction ends. (I prefer payment of the deposit by PayPal only; if you want to pay the deposit another way, contact me BEFORE BIDDING to make sure it's okay.) The balance is due within 7 days of auction end. The balance must be paid in cash or certified check. If paying with a certified check, I will not release the car until the check is verified by the issuing bank. GOOD LUCK BIDDING!
