Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE Up for auction is a 1970 Porsche 914 1.7 that has spent the last 29 years of its life stored in a barn and only has 67,200 original miles. I purchased this car to restore (I have owned and restored several over the years) but due to the number of projects I currently have I am letting it go so someone can enjoy it. I have tried to show the car and all its faults with multiple pictures and have tried to be very thorough in my description- please ask questions if you feel I have missed something and study the pictures. If something isn’t shown in the pictures please assume its not included in the sale. The previous owner signed the Virginia title over in 1988 with no buyer filled in and it has been that way since. Body- The body is very clean overall with only minor surface rust. Even the bottoms of the panels including the doors are very solid. The panels have very few minor dings and would be an easy car to prep for paint. The condition of the body and the low original mileage is the reason I chose to keep this car for restoration. Also included in the sale are the original black side valance panels in excellent condition. Drivetrain- The 1.7 needs a new fuel pump and battery to run. When I picked this car up I started it with starter fluid and a borrowed battery from another car I was working on. I have removed the heat exchangers-I was planning to install stainless steel heat exchangers- so while the car comes with the muffler it does NOT come with heat exchangers. Brakes- The front calipers are removed and not included with this sale. I am listing the rebuilt calipers I was going to install on this car in another auction and you are welcome to bid on them. I would recommend rebuilding the brakes and installing a new master cylinder. Interior-What you see is what is included in the sale. I had a mint condition interior that I was going to install in the car and sold it separately. I still have a nice set of door skins and will list them in another auction as a set. Trunks- Both trunks are in really solid condition and have only minor surface rust. The rear trunk appears to have a small medal patch in the very far corner. Engine compartment- Overall in really clean original shape. I removed the battery box from the car with plans to install the new battery in the trunk (original battery mount is included). The “Hell Hole” area is clean overall with only minor rust as pictured. Undercarriage- for the most part this car is very solid underneath. On both sides the floor has rust through on the very outer edge that I had planned to cut out and weld in new sheet metal. The passenger side needs more work than the drivers side but overall is a simple fix. Unlike most of these cars this one will NOT require replacing the entire floor pan. I also intended to replace the suspension console on the passenger side and would strongly recommend that the next owner does this. You can routinely find these new listed on eBay for $250.00. It appears the original owner cut the drivers side jack plate off and I am including a new jack post and jack plate with the sale. Glass- All the glass is included and in very good condition. Both windows function correctly. Although not pictured all the metal window trim including the rear sidepieces are included, they are not in great condition but are usable. As I previously stated I have owned and restored many 914’s in the past and feel this is a very clean base to start a restoration. Aside from the interior, heat exchangers and front calipers this is a complete car. Look at my feedback and bid with confidence. You are welcome to inspect the car prior to auction end-it is located in South Dayton, Ohio 45459. The car is being sold “as is” and the buyer is responsible for payment within 48 hours of auction end and prior to pick up or shipping. I am happy to assist in loading the vehicle but all arrangements and costs are the responsibility of the buyer.
