Vehicle Detail
So I have decided to auction off my 1968 Dodge Charger. It has been completely restored but the interior has not been put back in yet. I own a busy shop in North Carolina and just have not had the time to finish this project. I was planning on finishing it over the holidays but we just never slowed down this year. Now I'm wondering if I'll ever have time to finish it. That being said I am also not going to give it away. The body, Every single piece of metal has been replaced. The floor pans, fenders, quarters, hood and trunk lid are all new. It was painted by a local hot rod shop, we used very expensive paint and the job was perfectly done. The rear strips were painted on and then the entire car was cleared again so theres not even a bump where the strips are. This paint job alone was over 5000 dollars. The fuel tank, bumpers, all bumper brackets, side marker lights, fog light and head lights are all new. The emblems and logos are all new. the taillights were resealed and painted. The grill was stripped down and is very close to perfect condition. Finishing it off with a brand new set of wheels and the correct mopar center caps and sitting on a new set of bfg tires. All the glass is there and in good shape, the window are original, the windshield and back glass are new. The windshield does have a small crack in the upper left corner that happened during installation. Drive train, The engine and transmission are the original for the car, it was born a 383 and still has that engine. The engine was sent out to Concord NC and was completely rebuilt right down to a balanced rotating assembly, it was then professionally painted and fitted with the mopar valve covers and a brand new holley carb. I fitted the engine with NOS exhaust manifolds with date codes back to 68, then spent 1200 dollars on the best exhaust system I could find to bolt up to them. The transmission was completely overhauled and the torque converter was replaced. It has a smaller gear reduction starter in it with a custome made wiring harness. The rear differential is also new old stock and was built in 68 but never installed on a vehicle. So the entire drive train has zero miles on it. It does start and drive, I have tuned it in and made sure everything works but it hasn't left the shop since it was painted. Electronics, All the wiring harnesses in the car have been replaced with year one harnesses. every connector and wire is new, except for the little ones to the center counsel and steering column, but they are in good shape. I added and electric fuel pump and electric cooling fans. I built a custom overlay harness to run these devices seperate from the high dollar factory harness. there is and extra fuse box added for protection. The original instrument panel was sent out to have all the glass replace and rebuilt, it is already installed. Accessories; I added a March serpentine belt system that is already installed. This also forced me to upgrade the charging system and power steering system wich is all completed. I also added a nostalgic air air conditioning system. The plumbing and hardware is all done, the under hood wiring is done, the interior controls just need to be hooked up. Interior; I have most of the pieces completed for the interior. The original seat have been custom redone and look amazing!! I have a new carpet and new lower door panels, the upper door panels were also redone. The headliner is already installed and looks great, it is stretched perfectly. I have most of the pieces to the center counsel but not all of them. I also have a new antenna and new exterior mirror. Suspension; every single component in the brakes and suspension is all new. Tie rods, shocks, springs, brake linings, cylinders and control arms are all new. I even added a power brake booster. Overview; this will be a show wining car when it is completed. I estimate a couple more weeks of work and this will be a brand new 68 charger, I have seen a lot of restorations but this is one of the best I've ever seen, I really wish I could finish it, I just don't have the time. I will not end the auction early so please don't ask. I will not take less than my reserve, I don't have to sell it, so please don't ask. Ask any questions before bidding please. Also, If you have never bought anything on ebay before, don't bid on this car. Thanks for looking!!On Jan-23-13 at 15:30:12 PST, seller added the following information: I do have other photos availible apon request or if you would like me to send you a video of the car and have an Iphone, just send me your phone number and I'll send it to you. Also, anyone is more than welcome to come look at it. Please do all this before you bid. I do have a folder with most of the receipts I could get together, I have some pics of the restore process and I do have the original build sheet but it isn't in very good condition. I also have a service manuel and a restoration guide that go with it. Please know, I have over 40 grand in this car so far, I will not take less than my reserve of 25000, I'll just finish it myself whenever I get time if it doesn't go up to that, so please don't bother asking. If anyone has any other questions just e-mail me, I check my mail often. Thanks for looking!!
