I am the third owner and the second owner of record was a small time dealer. He used it for a brief period of time as his showroom Flagship. I have used it as my daily driver for a bit over a year and it is everything and more that you would expect out of the Mercedes quality. Most 300TD for sale today can be found on the West Coast...here is a chance to get one closer to home for the East Coast buyers. EXTERIOR The car was finished in Taiga Beige (MB color code 684) with Hennarot (directly translated as Henna Red - MB color code 256) MB-tex interior that appears to be burgundy in color and is rare on this model/color combination. Great chrome that still shines all the way around. The paint has minor blemishes (small chips/dings) that would be expected of maybe a 5-year-old vehicle. However, this is a 27-year-old vehicle and the paint still shines like new. The sunroof functions beautifully and does not leak. All the drains function properly and there is no sign of rust dripping from them like in many older Mercedes. There is also a custom fit car cover that is basically brand new. INTERIOR The interior is clean. The carpets are very nice in the front and rear seats. There is some fading evident in the rear cargo area, and there is one apparent stain there as well, please see the photos. There are no major rips or tears in the seats and there is only 1 place where a repair is evident. The wood panels are in good condition as is the dash pad (there are two small cracks about 1cm long each). The headliner is in great shape and the A, B & C pillar wraps are all there and intact. There is a complete set of front/rear custom cut hexagonal all weather mats that is included. MECHANICAL The car has been exquisitely maintained and it has recently had a standard Mercedes 100,000 mile maintenance by a Mercedes dealer to include, a full set of glow plugs. It also has new exhaust, new brakes, new shocks, new tires, a new battery and has had full AC service that included a switch to the newer R134. The AC blows cold. It has had the vacuum system 100% overhauled and there are no leaks. Everything holds vacuum well. It has the original Becker stereo and speakers that still work well. It has power steering and breaks that both function well. The rear self leveling suspension system functions properly and has no leaks (it was part of the vacuum system overhaul). The car shifts and accelerates like a Mercedes diesel with low mileage should. There are no odd noises of any kind in engine or the driveline. It always starts up right away and does not smoke. It has great power and smooth acceleration with good pep when the turbo spins up. All the instruments work with the exception of the dash clock. The radio has a functioning clock however. All the power windows, door locks and the power antenna still function well. The cruise control does not work. I have kept a maintenance and mileage log since purchase and with a fairly even mix of city/highway driving the vehicle averages between 25-27 mpg. The turbo settings could be adjusted to increase this mileage but it would be at the expense of power/pep. This car is a great collection piece but would also function well as a family car/daily driver. It is the vehicle of choice for a bio-diesel conversion. The Viton hose kits are readily available on the internet and easy to install. A waste oil kit is also available so you could run on vegetable oil, but it is more expensive and requires many alterations. The W123 platform is easy to maintain and alter and is why this model is so sought after. This vehicle is listed locally as well and I reserve the right to end the auction and alter the reserve at any time. I would rather deal with a local pick-up but would also be helpful with shipping or an airport pick-up if needed. I would not hesitate to buy the car and immediately drive it any distance home. It is mechanically sound and reliable. All shipping/pick-up charges would have to be paid for by the buyer if that is your choice. This includes an immediate deposit of $500 upon winning the auction that is non-refundable. The full amount will be due within the week, or at a pre-negotiated time after the auction is won if you need extra time to arrange for pick-up or delivery. Don’t expect to win the auction just to come kick the tires, unless you want to pay $500 for that chance. The car is sold "as is, where is " and without a warranty.
