Vehicle Detail
"The Story of the Old Norton"Word had come down the pipe that a family in my neighborhood wanted to clear their driveway of old clunkers. Quick & ready to respond my fearless partner Chatmann & I descended on the location like true commandos ourselves. Once there we encountered a very friendly gentleman willing to exchange stories over a few beers. The shadows got longer and the tales got taller. Soon it was volume over vocabulary as we hollered out our favorite tales into the darkness. Just before we departed, the man invited Chatmann to look at his ancient motorbike. Chatmann came back wide eyed & fully revved. I queried him about the bike, & all he said was, "He's keeping that."Fast forward 6 months and the urgency to clear the driveway had increased. The norton was added to the haul. It turns out the city had created a permit only parking area on their street and was issuing citations incessantly. The man was now willing to move the bike if we would buy all the decrepit vehicles clogging the driveway. Once they were gone, a path to remove the precious norton would be cleared & the bike would be ours! So yes, I'll clarify, we bought & disposed of 3 cars with 8 flat tires, no keys & no titles just to bring you this motorbike here.Once the clunkers were removed, we opened the door to the pitch dark garage. It was so dark there was nothing to be seen at all. Squinting our eyes in the pitch black I could make out a tailight twinkling deep in the darkness. The man deftly moved thru the cluttered garage & hollered "grab the bars & let's get her in the light!"Chatmann grabbed the seat bar & gave a mighty heave ho! & there she was! After a long slumber of 38 years, the Norton sat in front of us coated in a thick layer of dust. Our moment here was short as we quickly loaded the bike & bid our fond goodbyes to the family. What we have for you here is a classic Motorbike with horrendous green sparkle paint on the bodywork. The bike has light surface rust from the changing seasons as condensation settled on the bike in the transitions from cold to hot. This bike appears to be completely intact & never disassembled. The engine kicks over & that's it. I intend to let you enjoy knocking the dust off this bike yourself. I have instructed my partner not to touch the bike with his hands of steel, wire wheel, polishing compounds etc.Yes we could polish this bike up & push it out to you scrubbed down. That still may happen, but for now, it is yours to do. I have very competent shippers that will deliver this bike to you in it's current form. I look forward to your questions & am no expert in this marquee. I am a finder of interesting items. That's all.
