Vehicle Detail

1969 MERCEDES-BENZ 280SE CoupeAnthracite Gray with Black LeatherOriginal Southern California CarBetween 2007-Present over $55,000 spent on restoration Description: Anthracite Gray metallic exterior (MB paint code 172) with Black leather interior, inline 6-cylinder motor 2.8 liter motor, automatic transmission, power window, power sunroof, air conditioning. Here is a list of some of the items that have been restored in the last 5 years. Frame off paint and body in 2007 -- the car was disassembled and sanded down to bare metal. The doors, drive train, suspension, wiring, glass, etc. were all removed to facilitate the professional paint work Interior was redone in 2009 -- carpet, leather, door panels, wood (headliner was not replaced) Rubber around doors, trunk, wing windows were replaced, along with new felt seals in the door glass New modern seat belts were installedThere is a sunroof, which I'm not sure is factory or not. There is a vinyl top that was supposedly dealer installed according to the previous ownerIn 2001 a Pioneer AM/FM CD player with MP3 adapter was professionally installed in the glovebox, with amp and woofer mounted in the trunk, and it has remote keyless entry with alarm. Antenna was just replaced Engine rebuilt in 2007, about 11,000 miles ago, with new rods, rings, heads, etc., and in the process nearly every part was replaced with original new parts or repainted, powder coated, cadium plated or zink platedAlso mechanically -- new shocks, new brakes, new tires, new front end, new rubber components, bushings, clamps, lines/hoses, etc. were replaced at the time of the rebuildOriginal factory air conditioning with upgraded a/c compressor in 2010 that greatly improved the a/c systemEuropean headlights were added, although this is a US spec carIn the past 2 years the original Bosch fuel injection pump was replaced with an excellent used Bosch injection pump, 2 new fuel injectors (the others were cleaned and reinstalled), new OEM water pump, OEM alternator, new battery, brake pads, cold start valve, new horns, temp gauge, spark plugs, oil/filters, etc.Although this car looks and runs great, there are some things that need tending to that were not restored -- the chrome is presentable, but could use re-plating, there are some fit and finish issues with things like the driver side door lock mechanism, the horns have been disconnected because sometimes there is a short and they sound themselves... To avoid any confusion please send me any questions you may have. I've done my best to describe the car to the best of my knowledge. The car is sold 'as is' and there are no expressed or written warranties. Thanks! Good luck!
