Vehicle Detail
1973 Volvo 1800ES 2 door station wagon/ hatchback. 4 speed transmission with overdrive. I bought this car in Pennsylvania about 7 years ago. Originally I was going to part it out, but it was too solid and complete to do that. With a little tinkering I got it running and driving and drove it to work for a little while until the clutch stopped working. Since it's a cable clutch, it probably needs an adjustment- the pedal still has "feel" to it, but when I went to shift it wouldn't change gears if the engine was running. But before I got to that, the fuel pump quit so the car has been sitting for about 2 years or so. It still cranks over, but won't start. When it ran, it ran very well- no smoke, good oil pressure, did not overheat. Body has some rust in the usual places, see pictures. The floors and underside are fairly solid, though. The interior is all there, but front seats and carpet are in pretty rough condition. Back seat and door panels aren't bad though. A/C components are there, and the compressor does turn, but I never used the A/C. This car does have the overdrive transmission, which did work when I drove it. It also has remote mirrors, which seem to have been a somewhat rare factory option. The wheels on it are mismatched, but I have a full set of both types, which the winning bidder can have their pick of. The 4 on there now were just four that I had that would hold air. The brakes still seem to work, including the parking brake. I have some spare parts that will go with the car- there is a spare hood in much better shape (the hood on the car is rusted out by the hinges). I also have a front right fender and rocker panel that was cut out of a parts car to repair the rusted-out one on this car. These cars are fairly rare, and it deserves more attention than I can give it right now. I have a clear title for the car. Pick up/ delivery of the car is the responsibility of the winning bidder, however I can assist. I do have a trailer and delivery could be arranged for an additional fee. Car is NOT running and can not be driven as-is. Car must be paid for in full within 7 days of auction end. Car should be picked up by the end of December 2012, at the latest. Please feel free to call me with any questions - 864-two-nine-three-2901. In person inspection is invited and encouraged. Please call me to arrange. Thank you.
