Vehicle Detail

This is an original 1948 International Harvester KB-1 Bell telephone service truck, there is a tag on the service body that is dated 1948 showing that it was installed when the truck was new . The body has 2 service doors on the passenger side, one folds down, the other has 3 slide out divided drawers and a flat panel on top . There are 2 original safety stickers on the dash that have the name "Bell System" on them . At some point in it's life, the truck was apparently sold off at auction to an electrical co. for further use , the truck was then painted over in a tan color from it's original dark green, anyhow..I scraped the tan paint from the pass. door to reveal the electrical co. logo of Rodgers Electric, i started scraping the drivers door and it says the same thing. The service body has a couple rust holes, one on the top panel and one in the corner of the bed and bottom of the tailgate hinge but are easily repairable . The engine is the original green diamond 6 with a 3 spd on the column, the engine runs good and the clutch is smooth . I rebuilt the rearend putting new seals and bearings, the U joints were taken apart, cleaned and re-installed, new flexible brake lines front and rear with 4 new wheel cylinders and master cyl. The transmission was taken out, inspected, 1 new bearing installed and new fluid put in . A new 6 volt battery was installed, cooling system flushed, new hoses, 5 new freeze plugs, rebuilt water pump, rebuilt fuel pump, gas tank flushed, new cap, rotor, and plugs, and the oil changed . The truck shows just 75.000 miles but i don't know if it is true miles . I have only yard driven the truck because it still needs tires badly and needs some wiring replaced to make it road worthy. The door glass on both sides are cracked but roll up and down easily, the back window is good, the windshield is getting cloudy but intact. The truck has the cowl vent that opens good and the crank out windshield which operates good. This truck is very uncommon and would be an exellent restoration project.
