Up for auction is a 1956 Ford Thunderbird Jr. by the Power Car Junior Company of Mystic Connecticut. The condition of this miniature car was rough when I purchased it a couple years ago and had been stored in a shed for most of its existence. This car was designed by Ford engineers of the time to more accurately look like the original autos in quarter scale. The fiberglass body has been professionally repainted in original color. The interior has been remade in a period style and color combination treatment of the seat in leather, new steering wheel in white as the original was not with the car when purchased, new floor and rubber mat replaced old and rotted masonite, new interior white side panels. Other new parts include real full sized T-Bird emblems on rear quarters saying "Thunderbird", the "V8" emblems on doors in Gold and Red are from Full sized '56 Glove box, and new 10X2 front wheels and tires- new 12x2 rear wheels and tires, new rear tail light lenses, new headlight switch and new horn button. With the body on it looks better than it did new, but the chassis has not been touched from original condition except the drive motor which is an original Ford 12 Volt starter motor repurposed for this application and was professionally reworked keeping as much as possible the original condition. Many of the rusted fasteners were replaced with stainless steel equivalent parts. The Bad: The front bumper was originally received broken in two pieces has been repaired but not finished, and some minor electrical connections will need to be completed. A 12 Volt battery will not be included in the sale. All of the original parts removed as well as all electronic files and photos collected will be included in this auction if requested. More photos or specific photos available by email if requested. My intentions for this project was to restore and give to my grandsons, but they have quickly outgrown its speed and have motorcycles. Two of the photos included are at The Easter Car Show 2012 in Forest Park, St. Louis were it drew a lot of attention and nostalgic comments from former owners. ***NOTE: ID Tag on dash has number 2837On Nov-30-12 at 09:44:25 PST, seller added the following information: ***The stand seen in the photos will also be included as it was custom built for the car.
