Vehicle Detail
This is a 1965 F250 factory four wheel drive. Up until about 6 months ago it had spent its life in the Pacific Northwest (Tacoma Washington area). What sold me on this truck was the originality, the two family ownership, and the 59,000 original miles. I want to be as descriptive as possible so I will give you the good, the bad and the ugly. I have set this truck up as a dependable daily driver keeping as much of the original patina intact as I could. The history on the truck from the second owner was that it had set for many years after the original owner took the carb off for a rebuild and then lost the carb. I bought the truck with no knowledge of the trucks condition, but the previous owner knew the original owners and the truck was well maintained. Once I got the truck here, I flushed the fuel system, installed a new Holley 500 CFM carb and pulled the heads and had them rebuilt with hardened seats and new exhaust manifolds as they were leaking as most FEs do after some years. I have all the parts to completely go through the brake system, master cylinder, all wheel cylinders, all hoses, shoes etc in preparation of converting the system to DOT5 fluid. Those parts will be included in the sale. Condition of the brakes are good as is, as I was advised the brakes had been done just prior to the owner "losing" the carb. It is interesting that the drums are marked with FoMoCo and dated 1965. Based on the condition of the of the cylinders and timing chain and overall cleanliness of the engine when I pulled the heads I am confident that the 59,000 miles are original. The engine runs like a clock, no smoke, no oil consumption. Clutch action smooth. Amazing how well this truck drives. Everything works, starts right up every time, and just runs great. Manual steering, manual brakes, runs down the road really well, tracks straight, no wander or free play in the steering. 4X4 system all works in all ranges and sports the original locking hubs. It is obvious that this truck was used during its lifetime but also well maintained. All zerks took grease, front end looks tight. Nice driver. Body is clean, solid in the cab mount, step well and floor pan area, bottoms of doors at pinch weld area have some bubbling, rear cab corners will need some minor repair. Surface rust on the floor pans under the mats and a small hole under drivers door hinge. Bed has rust through at the front 4" of the bed area. This was caused by a collection of balsam needles that accumulated over the years under the camper that was mounted. The rest of the load area is in remarkably good condition, no doubt to it having a camper in it. The tailgate has rust across the bottom. I have a rust free tailgate that will be included. Typical repairable rust under the rear tail lights. Body has dings and scrapes and some surface rust but nothing major. Driver's door has a scrape, but it just adds to the patina in my view. Has had a repaint sometime in its life in the original Rangoon Red / White 2 tone. Good glass all round. Equipped with rare windshield washer option. Foot operated washer bellows still works and has the Genuine Ford Accessories red and white washer bag under the hood. New wiper arms and blades. This is a great base for restoration or just drive as is. Do not expect a show truck, this is an original example that has been used and shows it, but in a good way :) New tires on later steel 16" wheels and I have the original split rims/tires. Interior original with the original optional heavy duty seat cover showing some wear on drivers side. Original headliner. Has lap belts. Dash all original, no cutting. Heater works great, NO power steering, NO power brakes, you DRIVE this truck! Clear Michigan title in my name. This truck is a great daily driver or a great restoration candidate. I have tried to be as descriptive as possible (please review my feedback) and contact me on 734-735-2086 with any questions. $250 deposit within 48 hours of end of auction, (PayPal fine) Cash or cleared Bank/Cashier's check at time of pick up. Pick up only and I can help load. Located South of Detroit, Michigan. Couple of folks asked, why am I selling? Just ordered a 2013 Focus and the balance owed on my current car is....$5800.
